And so it came to pass that RTD was no more, and I looked out on Moffats kingdom and I thought it good.

It was bloody good, wasn't it? Not a terrific story, but 'intro' episodes rarely are. But Smith, Gillan, the new TARDIS, the whole atmosphere of the thing...it felt more like Doctor Who to me than anything we've seen since 2005, really! Very Happy

It didn't have all the annoyances of the fat head era, and I think Smith is a stronger actor than Tennant.

He seems to have more range, I agree. Did you notice the ceiling mounted scanner from the Paul McGann movie is back?

Maybe it's just because we haven't seen enough episodes yet, but so far i think the "Tennant mk2" comments were pretty accurate.

Mind you that doesn't bother me XD. Nice reference to (all!) the past doctors right up front too. And two proper Minis!

Bit of a continuity error though, Chris and Tennant are not canon.

What did you make of the new theme?

Heartened by some of the comments, esp Tony's, since I know he has many of the same problems I do with NuHu (and Tennant).

To me (got hooked on NuWho and am now working my way through the classic series) it felt less like NuWho than any NuWho I've ever seen.

Did you catch Moffat's comments on Confidential afterwards? 'London was becoming a bit of a cliche'. So true! It's about time they remembered the rest of the country exists!

Come to think of it, they've even finally remembered that the rest of the TARDIS interior exists. Shocked

Sorry to pee on your chips boys and girls - but this guy is going nowhere. He looks like a muppett (well, as I've said before, the guy in Terrahawks). The whole show is too quirky, to 'funny' and not exciting at all. I'd paint a really dark Doctor that would have the viewer wondering if he were evil or good - like the Batman character of late. I think this series will fall into oblivion (might be a story there!) very soon...the sad thing is is that this Smith guy is, what, 27? That means we potentially have 10 years of him...maybe 20...and a Dalek with army webbing...naaah. Another chance lost...

I doubt very much if you'll ever get an actor staying in the role past three or four years, to be honest. The only one who stayed significantly longer was Tom Baker, and it killed his career. Hmm, another negative verdict-but you're in the minority this time, I think. I popped into uber fan Ian Levine's forum earlier, and even he liked it-which is pretty much a first for any episode since 1989...

And so is the Batman. I'm just saying the BBC has a fantastic character and sod the kids! They can watch Telly Tubbies! And if it's a 'kids' programme - why are you watching it? You're 22, not a kid. Seriously - I think a lot more could be done with this to produce truly wonderful stuff. And I did say 'potentially' about the duration of this particular incarnation of the Doctor...time (no pun intended) will tell...

*ahem* a 'family' show, I think is the preferred designation. The Sarah Jane Adventures is a childrens show; Torchwood is a show for adults. Doctor Who sits in the middle. I would like it a bit edgier than this latest episode, but introductory episodes for new Doctors are always weak. The story has to be sidelined in favour of the introduction of the new bloke. I'd be surprised if next week isn't stronger overall in terms of plot.

My sister is making an intro and Eddie is doing a theme for me to show just how piss poor the Mill truely are. Honestly why does the BBC use them, it must be some awful contract. They are being taken for a ride.

So any theories regarding "the silence" and "cracks in the universe". My theory is this whole world is fake, it's actually the toyroom. That way we can have a reset which wipes out the last 5 years.

I think something is breaking down the barriers between realities. That would explain the Cybermen being back from the Void later on.

I must admit though I'm not fondd of how DW does arcs. BF does it much better as they allow them to continue into other seasons.
