Nothing, but they have to tamper to put their own "creativity" on it.

Plus sell more merchandise.

I'm really not happy about this. The Dalek is an iconic design, alter it and it definitely loses something. I hope this is a one-off...

Oh, yes! Yes, I have-as has Deb. Though I'm dismayed to note that Glenda Slagg appears to have disappeared... Smile

This could just be some sort of special Dalek, it's bulkier look suggests perhaps a heavily-armoured one?

OR maybe 'somebody' is inside it...

Well that's what I'd say too. But then I'm not running the programme.

...Apparently they've got hold of some of those guys who've been working on the new version of Hamlet for the past 100 years to do that.

It was bad enough that the cretin RTD dumbed the show down, but now Muppet has gone ruined a british icon. I mean how dare they deem themselfs right to change an icon, he's not even proven himself yet, and even so it's just wrong. Imagine if someone reinvented the Hulk, made him pink and wear bondage gear, they'd be an outrage. Why is there no outrage over this?

The Hulk is currently bright red, as it happens. Don't ask.

Let's just wait and see what's actually happening before we explode, shall we? Smile

Change is woven into the fabric of Doctor Who. It's all good Smile

Don't worry - be happy Smile

(I find it hard to get worked up about Daleks when the sun is shining.)

You wouldn't say that if one turned up in your back garden when you were sunbathing.

I would have thought it was for warm people. If it's too cool, you don't sunbathe. You'd start shivering.

It's not sunny here, but I don't like the sun anyway (beyond the fact that we'd find it slightly difficult to survive without it).

I've loved (or at least liked) huge sections of the new series - just not keen on this section so far. And that's all I'm comparing to the work of monkeys; what we've seen so far, including those hideous new Daleks (although they might well look better on screen).

Optimistic me says Saturday's episode can't possibly be worse.

Marvin is my hero.

When it comes to New Who, "Sounds awful" is becoming my catchphrase. Wink

Looking at the cast list for the final two episodes of this series on IMDB, it seems both Nick Briggs and Barnaby Edwards are in the last episode, so I guess that means yet more Daleks. But on a more positive note-veteran who villain Philip Madoc (The War Games, The Brain of Morbius, The Power of Kroll) is also listed as being in both the 12th and 13th episodes! I thought he was dead... Very Happy

For some reason, I now have a vision of you twenty years from now, hiding in a darkened house with a stuffed and mounted, animatronic Philip Madoc wired up to the mains, recordings of his most iconic speeches being replayed endlessly from a CD player in his skull... Twisted Evil
