Hmm, maybe Sarah, Nyssa, Zoe and Liz Shaw are the only four who would have realised this.

I agree about Romana II, and Romana I might have realised but have refused to do something so undignified as climbing through a window. Tegan would have spent so much time moaning and complaining that the chance to escape would have passed, and Jamie would just refuse for fear of running into the Giant Beastie outside Shocked
Yes, well, it is a big one...

Sorry, slipped into troughton double-entendre mode, there...

'City of Death' was really very good. I'm even warming to Romana II a little.

In fact, that may be one of the best DW stories I've ever seen.

And Tom Baker is just perfect.

He was attempting to communicate with it. The universe is an amazing place full of many and varied methods of communicating ideas. This is one that I feel could be worth adopting on Earth.

I quite liked it Smile

I thought that Romana II was finally developing a personality, but then it turned out that that episode was written with the old Romana in mind. Damn Sad

Also, I want K9's old voice back.

Nevertheless, the story was enjoyable. And that one 'WTF?!?' moment was hilarious.

Romana 2 = Best Companion Ever.

Certainly pisses all over that overrated simpering whiner collectively known as SJS.

Am reading The Selfish Gene. I was wondering how long it would take Professor Dawkins to mention his wife. Answer: first paragraph.

No, it says "Tom Baker preferred the giant green alien blob to her."

(Besides, it was called Erato, and she was the muse of erotic poetry, so you do the math....)

You seen the trailer for the new series?

I just want them to stop wasting time on being foreboding and spooooooooky, and get on with telling the story. Because I'm sure the story's going to be really good, although whether it will be better than Being Human has been this year remains to be seen.

Just finished, for the, oh, umpteenth time in my life, and certainly not the last (well, hopefully certainly not the last Smile ), Horror Of Fang Rock Ep 1. Apart from an overlong dodgy effect for the cliffhanger, pure perfection from beginning to end.

Leela's just terrific, isn't she? Intelligent, forthright and yet naïve and eager to learn. The bit in 'The Face of Evil' where she just jumps right in to the Tardis and refuses to leave, forcing the Doctor to take her with him, epitomises her character. It's a pity she didn't get a decent exit.

I like the character of Leela, it's her forthright nature that I admire, and she did deserve a better exit. Coming after the great exits both Jo and SJS recieved, it was really quite lame. But the real injustice is that the great fab Liz Shaw didn't even get an exit, just a few lines inserted as an afterthought into Terror Of The Autons.

Not that my life hasn't moved on or I'm bitter or I hold a grudge or anything etc since its first broadcast forty years ago Sad

You're right about Liz. Despite her rubbish exit, I do admire her for saying "Okay, you can fight aliens, Doctor, but I've got academic research to do. I love academia and learning for its own sake more than anything else and I'm going to dedicate my life to it."
