I love S18, but there is a lot of emphasis given to the wardrobe and/or hair of the native inhabitants of the various planets. Wait till you get to Traken and Logopolis!

(Did I ever say I love Logopolis? Probably. I've got the DVD. And the VHS. And the novel. And Chris Bidmead readiing the novel out loud on audio. I even managed to get a publicity photo of it from ebay. I can't believe mine was the only bid. I love it so much I even love just spelling out the word 'Logopolis' on the keyboard! Look, here I go again - L-O-G-O-P.....
I like Logopolis as well. I love the recursion idea, with the TARDIS inside itself.

There's a statute of limitations on spoilers XD. As some oft-reposted webcomic goes..

1: Man I love star wars, I'm watching all the films in order
2: Yeah, they're pretty cool... "Luke, I AM YOUR FATHER!"

1: Oh great, thanks for spoiling that for me
2: What? Everybody knows that!

I think generally speaking, after about the three week mark it isn't really a spoiler unless you're living in a cave in Tibet (in which case you won't see it anyway).

Ah, the massed ranks of fandom that is Gallifrey Base! Have most people got over the words 'Jon Pertwee' being 'mostly' in lower case on the cover of the new 'Spiders' DVD yet? Or does the future of Who still look bleak?

People in caves in Tibet have still heard of Monty Python. Mind you that's probably because Michael Palin is always wandering around up there interviewing them.

Thing is, I think there actually is an element to the current stories which means you either have to watch them extremely attentively or analytically or watch them more than once in order to get the most out of them. I've loved most of the last two series' anyway, but I always appreciate them more on watching the BBC3 repeat, I always pick up on something I missed first time-and of course, when you reach the end of the series you're in a better position to appreciate what seemed like throwaway lines earlier on because it's all interlinked. By contrast, a lot of Russell's stuff was mildly enjoyable on first viewing but the plots fell apart if you looked into them too deeply. It's almost a complete reversal, for me.

The Sea Devils. An excellent.... cure for insomnia.

Brand new fan animation of The Feast of Steven, on YT. Superbly done, and the episode itself is huge fun.

Possibly doesn't count as Who, but I spent much of last night happily working my way through series two of The Sarah Jan Adventures. Fun, uncomplicated stories, and those kids really are talented. Well, except possibly Tommy Knight (Luke) who has apparently decided not to pursue acting as a career...

On the other hand, The Time Monster does give us a once in a lifetime opportunity to see John Levene in a nappy.

The only old DR Who eps I never watched all the way through back in 1964-66 were the historical based ones! I'd watch a few minutes, get bored and go out to play (I was nine in 1964) IThe one that really bored me then was `Marco Polo` well, what I saw of it!!

Forme back then, it was the historical ones I avoided on the whole!

I've slowly had to come to the conclusion that, with a handful of exceptions (Day, Carnival, and Time Warrior are classics, and Mind and Frontier are fairly good), I really don't like the post-season 7 Pertwee era much at all.

I came to that conclusion myself awhile ago. Aside from anything else, like Tennant, he never seems to me to be playing quite the same character as the others: Tennant's Doctor is too 'human' to be the Doctor, and Pertwee's is too much a part of the establishment to be the eternal rebel, for all his bickering with the Brigadier...

Pertwee's emphasis was very much on the 'Lord' part of 'Time Lord'. I could believe that he'd had estates on Gallifrey.

Tony's point about needing to watch today's `Who` certainly applies to me! I really do need to view some of them to gain a `foothold` so to speak! Question

Just finished watching the entirety of K9 Series 1 in about three days. It's a weird little show, supposedly set in Britain but the London landmarks are cleary CGI, they don't appear to have the rights to use things like Metropolitan Police uniforms or the Royal Mail logo (resulting in oddities like a supposedly RM postman named Patrick(!) sporting a blue jumper with the word 'POST' emblazoned on it in huge white letters on a red rectangular background) and everyone has an Australian accent. For all that, it's tremendous fun and the CGI K9 has actually started to grow on me...

I recently got the `Lost in Time` DVD set. As well as enjoying those singular episodes that exist in the Hartnell/Troughton era it was great to see (In `Extra's) the `censored` clips via Australian TV. Especially pleasing were those tremendous clips from `Fury From the Deep` where `Oak & Quill` attack the lady in her room!

It brought back very chilling memories for me! Though the Daleks or Cybermen never really terrified me back in the 1960s those two characters from `Fury` gave me the willies back in `68`. There were other great clips from `Fury` proving to me at least that it truly is a lost classic.

Lost in Time is wonderful, probably one of the best Who DVD releases, which is slightly ironic. I agree with you about Oak & Quill, Alan; absolutely chilling stuff. Have you bought any of the soundtrack CDs to the lost stories? Fury from the Deep is still great even in that form!

No! havn't got round to soundtrack material yet Tony! but I certainly will do once i've got myself a few more DVD's. Nice thing about the audio's is there is descriptive passages inserted by past cast members to help with scenes that would be otherwise `lost` in Audio! yes! looking foreward to getting these eventually!
