The God Complex
Another good one, I think-though not quite up to the standard of The Girl who Waited or The Doctor's Wife. All very Sapphire & Steel, with a touch of The Shining. The hotel actually made a very effective, very creepy setting.

Re: The God Complex
Saw The God Complex. Mm, bit of a disappointment after the last couple (esp last weeks). Not bad, but rather ponderous and weirdly unsatisfying on many levels. I can't believe that's really supposed to be Amy & Rory's last ep (surely Moffat would want to write that himself). It just lacked the necessary emotion for that decision to work, to me (the end of last weeks would have been a better place for him to make that choice, surely?). The "Faith breaking" scene was pretty weak, too, and far too easy. Hardly up there with 7 breaking Ace's faith in him at the end of Fenric, now was it?
A bit ho hum. I'm not fussed about seeing more from Whithouse, really. He's had 3 cracks at it and none have really been brilliant (Vampire is probably my fave of his, and that's as much down the deliciously lavish production as it is the script).
Next week's looks quite good, though. Looks surprisingly scary for a sequel to last year's out-and-out comedy ep.

Re: The God Complex
I doubt very much if it's really their last episode. For one thing, Karen Gillan has said she's in next year's series, and for another the last episode of this current series (in two weeks time) is called 'The Wedding of River Song', and I suspect mum and dad will be invited...

Yeah, I know. But it would still would have made more of an impact for the Doctor to make that call for them after the trauma of last weeks rather than this one.

Ah, but you see, the Doctor knew that Amy and Rory were already under contract to appear in this weeks episode.codywillis1 wrote:Yeah, I know. But it would still would have made more of an impact for the Doctor to make that call for them after the trauma of last weeks rather than this one.
Hope that helps.

How come Donna gets left with her memory wiped, but Amy and Rory get a foot on the property ladder and an expensive car?

No she never! She won £30 million on a Euro rollover and had a very happy life with lots of lovely children.tony ingram wrote:Yes, but she blew it all on nail varnish and DVDs of Simon Cowell.

Right up until she died horribly in a freak accident involving a bus and a slick on the road caused by an overturned truck full of Greek olives. And her drug addled, glue sniffing brood squandered all her money leaving her to be buried in a cardboard box.Lucy McGough wrote:No she never! Re: The God Complex
Even after two viewings I barely understood it- which is more likely a fault with me-but I could hardly grasp it!
After a promising start the episode ended up - to my senses- an utter mess!
Nit picking point 1. What happened to the corpses?
The good point! Well; just one I can think of, in the adressing of Amy's (And every female companion beginning with Rose Tyler) virtual worshipping the Doctor like a deity! It's something I firmly believe the show really needs to set straight and I applaud this move in this episode.
Bad Point(s) What the H*** gives some unammed race the right to create a device that `scoops` up perfectly innocent biengs and give them as `food` to the `prisoner` in their contraption! The point of creatures that have some sort of faith making them food, I not only find morally awful, but a very, very stupid and untenable plot device!
I actually gave this episode the 2nd least rating on the poll- just the one good point I stressed saved it from worse!
If the show continues down this road, I for one will sadly have to give up on it as I have done with Torchwood!
I apologise to those who enjoyed the episode- my views are purely my individual feelings on it! I'm gonna have a lie down now!

What a very extreme reaction to such a thoroughly ordinary episode.

Re: The God Complex
Well, Cody, I hope this site will allow me to `have a go` but only stressing my personal views! If others really enjoyed the episode-that's fine with me.
Is it a good/bad episode? Myself- I truly found it pretty poor stuff; but I would never be arrogant (I Hope) enough to come out shouting "It's Rubbish!" and expect that view to be like a fact!
It's all individual perspective! I think poor of "The God Complex" but no doubt other viewers enjoyed it! I can accept that!

Thank you Lucy! I do try to stress my opinions are most certainly just my personal opinions and hope I don't upset others who take different views!

Personally the short asian muslim medical student just made me think of somebody I know who draws pornz. She said (after much persuading) that it was the first episode she'd watched since 2005 XD
