The Big Bang Theory Empty The Big Bang Theory

Am I alone in thinking that, much as I like TBBT, tis latest season seems to have lost its edge somewhat? What was a unit of four guys and a girl now seems permanently divided, with plotlines split between the domestic concerns of the Leonard/Penny/Sheldon triumvirate and the Wolowitz's, the two groups rarely interacting, with Raj becoming increasingly irrelevant, and the others beginning to look rather tired. Am I wrong?

I haven't actually been watching it, but sitcoms do tend to lose their edge when people get partnered off and/or married.

Since it's a subjective opinion, I don't know that you CAN be wrong.

Anyway, I like and don't like this series, but there have definitely been changes. I don't mind, I'm not someone who thinks the initial set-up has to stay the same, but I've pretty much gotten bored with this show. I still watch, and I hope it gets better, but it's more for odd reasons. I like the Sheldon/Penny friendship, I think that as odd as it is, it really works. But, overall it seems to be running out of steam.

And that's not getting into the who "laughing AT geeks" argument.

It's more like 'laughing at the writers' idea of geeks'.

True, but to the audience, that is how geeks DO act. TV really influences how people perceive a lot of things. For the bad, I think.

I still have never watched an entire episode of this.
Really only seen snippets on commercials, etc.

And you've never been tempted, just to see what's it like?

Not really.
I don't watch a lot of "current" TV programming (not counting the news and a few other areas).

I'm currently watching a lot of the comics related shows: Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Gotham, SHIELD, Runaways, and I've dipped into others like Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Inhumans (still not seen Defenders or Iron Fist and can't get into Arrow). I also like a bit of comedy, incuding Big Bang, and of course Doctor Who is a constant (when it's on).

I'm more likely to watch news, reruns of old game shows, reruns of old cop shows, old movies (usually back in the days when b&w was more likely), and some other stuff like cooking/food related shows. (I'm not big on cooking myself, but they can be interesting, especially some of the food competition ones.)
I honestly can't remember the last time I regularly watched a current TV drama or comedy series.

I do watch a fair bit of older stuff. Old British police shows on late at night are a guilty pleasure.

Don't get too many of those on my cable system over here.
And it also drives me crazy that when I check to see what's on BBC-America, I'm just as likely to get reruns of The X-Files or Star Trek: The Next Generation, or maybe movies like The Matrix or National Lampoon's European Vacation.

Huh?

Don't blame us! BBC America isn't actually a part of the BBC itself, it's an American channel jointly owned by some American company and BBC Studios, the BBC's commercial subsidiary arm (which the Corporation keeps very much at arms length a lot of the time). It licences BBC shows, but I guess it also licenses cheaper material from the US domestic market.
