Not quite up to the standards of last week, but a fun romp all the same, and I loved Rory's Dad! He actually reminded me of mine (though Brian is a lot less sarcastic); why do they always carry tools around?
I was genuinely upset when the Triceratops died...

I thought you'd be. Poor Tricey
Really enjoyed today's episode. It was a fun romp with ethical awareness thrown in. Would've been better without Amy Pond ("LOOK AT ME! I'M SASSY AND SEXY AND KEEP MAKING WISECRACKS!"), but you can't have everything.

I like Amy! I did like her "I will not have flirting companions" line...

Which would you rather have: her or the triceratops?

One thing that bugged me about this episode was (SPOILERS!!!) if Oswin was really a Dalek, why didn't she SOUND like a Dalek when communicating with the Doctor? Anyone know?

She used science/technology/cleverness to simulate a young woman's voice, just like she simulated classical music. The unconscious deception* only failed when she talked to the Doctor not via an electronic medium but face to, er, eyestalk.
*I don't think she knew she was doing it.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the music! You're probably right, Lucy. Still, they should've had SOMEONE mention it in the script.

Re: Dinosaurs on a Spaceship
Loved it - effectively the Who equivalent of Trouble with Tribbles - ie an out and out comedy episode.
I have to say I loved the idea of a Silurian Ark and soooooo wish it could be true. Chibnall's doing agood job of making the Silurians something really interesting in the Who universe.
I'm wondering if it's not Sea Devils we'll be seeing this series rather than Ice Warriors as has always been runoured.

First I've heard of this rumour...
Maybe there were other Silurian arks

You mean the Silurian Ark could be part of a Silurian Ark arc?

Re: Dinosaurs on a Spaceship
Maybe they crashed in the North polar regions while trying to escape Earth's atmosphere, and Silurians from these crashed ships will appear throughout the series in little cutaway scenes set there? Sort of an overarching Ark arc set in the Arctic...

Only if another Silurian ship crashed in what became the Deep South of the USA. I'd like an Ark arc set in Arkansas.

Re: Dinosaurs on a Spaceship
Arctic and Antarctic Silurians vs. Arkansas Silurians for the fate of the Arks? That's an arc I'd like to see! Maybe they had some Great Auks on the Ark, so it would also be an Auk arc.Lucy McGough wrote:Only if another Silurian ship crashed in what became the Deep South of the USA. Re: Dinosaurs on a Spaceship
The Ice Warriors rumour has been around since about half-way through last season. Can't move for it it some places (The Graun message boards have been rife with it for months). It reached a peak when the season trailers this year featured an ice planet.
That turned out to be a bit of a dead end though...

Ireally do wish they'd bring the Warriors back, but only if they use the original design: no pointless and unnecessary redesigns. Same for the Zygons.

I think modern costume designers would be very very aggreived at the thought they couldn't improve on the original Ice Warriors design. As a great warrior race they lack mobility and grace which is a problem.
Never got the Zygon love. No more or less effective as a threat than the terraleptils.

Really? I thought the Zygons were the most convincingly alien aliens ever seen in the original series! There was something really creepy about that peculiar, foetus like appearance.BluesShark wrote:I think modern costume designers would be very very aggreived at the thought they couldn't improve on the original Ice Warriors design. Unnerving to look at but their 'Master Plan' was something even my cat could have rumbled. And he eats flies.

OK, but the fact that Broton was a bt of a Muppet doesn't mean the race as a whole doesn't have potential! Why, just look at BBV's 'Zygon' spin-off DVD to see what can..be...done...with...BluesShark wrote:Unnerving to look at but their 'Master Plan' was something even my cat could have rumbled. Y'know what? Forget I spoke. I've certainly never seen 'Zygon', oh no. Not me. I wasn't the one who bought it, honest.

Re: Dinosaurs on a Spaceship
That was... absolutely ghastly, awful television. I'm astonished you lot seemed to like it, I found it embarrassingly shrill, annoying sub-Disney drivel from start to finish. Truly excrutiating to sit through. And we have another Chibnall (HOW does he keep getting work?) to "look forward to" next week. Joy of joys. Kill me now.
The Harry Potter caretaker guy as the villain was good, but should have been given a much better story than this cack. Was it supposed to be a comedy ep? Rather bizarre that it wasn't in the least bit funny then!

What can I say? I'm easily pleased and have no critical faculties. Obviously.
And we have another Chibnall (HOW does he keep getting work?) to "look forward to" next week.
Did anyone tell Toby Whithouse he was being ghostwritten by Chris Chibnall? I think he'll be quite annoyed when he finds out.

I meant "next week" as in this Saturdays, which is fairly obvious given the date posted.

I can't comment or vote on it as I didn't watch it; but I heard on "Points of View" that it was rather unpopular according to feedback The BBC got from public.

Why? In any case, POV only really exists to allow people to complain. I don't think it's a reliable barometer for public opinion.codywillis1 wrote:alanultron5 wrote:I can't comment or vote on it as I didn't watch it; but I heard on "Points of View" that it was rather unpopular according to feedback The BBC got from public.

Points of view does get like that, but the first episode got a lot of praise according to POV.
