More Departures from DC
Group Editor Will Dennis and Editor Mark Doyle, both individuals who had a good reputation with creators, have both decided not to stay at DC (or rather, to move with DC) when the company relocates to the West Coast. And it's rumoured a number of others are submitting resumes to other publishers. Expect more departures sooner rather than later....

I wonder how much of it had to do with just not wanting to move. I wouldn't want to switch coasts for work, and I don't know that this one is DC's fault. WB probably had a LOT more to do with it.
But, it IS weird that they won't be in NY any more.

I gather they are at least offering compensation packages, so that's something.

Yeah, I wouldn't swap coasts for a job. Not even a comic book job.

I wonder if the future of the comic book industry in the United States will be to relocate operations primarily to the west coast with more publishers linked directly to movie and television entertainment conglomerates?

I certainly wouldn't be surprised given the popularity of strip to screen adaptations.MajorHoy wrote:I wonder if the future of the comic book industry in the United States will be to relocate operations primarily to the west coast with more publishers linked directly to movie and television entertainment conglomerates?

Yes, comic book movies have taken off in a MASSIVE way recently. The comics without movie adaptations are starting to look odd (I'm looking at you, Strontium Dog).

If Ant Man and Dr Strange are seriously being planned, anything's possible. I want a Captain Britain movie.Lucy McGough wrote:Yes, comic book movies have taken off in a MASSIVE way recently. The comics without movie adaptations are starting to look odd (I'm looking at you, Strontium Dog).
