I think that run was one of the best things Marvel ever published.

I love the ABC Warriors! And, indeed, their predecessors/successors, Ro-Busters. Mills makes these lumps of animated metal so immediately identifiable...

i read the first twenty pages or so of the complete ro-busters, and i've frakkin' loved it. ro-jaws at this very early point has been my favorite.

and it seemingly was a very 2000ad weekend, as my copy of the complete nemesis vol 2 arrived in the mail. i have so much mills to read now, and can't wait to work through it!

Ro-Jaws was one of 2000AD's most prominent characters in the early years. He even hosted his own series, Ro-Jaws Robo-Tales. It's a shame he's been so neglected since the eighties. Maybe likeable, comedic characters like him went out of fashion... Crying or Very sad

I've not been keeping up with Day Of Chaos lately but do I get the sense it's about to become a lot more chaotic ?

I think they're among the best of Dredd's recurring villains, along with PJ Maybe (a lot of people would probably say the Angel Gang, but I became bored with Mean Machine years ago and I think resurrecting Pa and Junior was a mistake).

i'm quite a bit further in ro-busters now, and i'm still loving ro-jaws. i just finished the death on the orient express, and he was great in that. i loved "judge" ro-jaws -- "i'm in charge! i'm in charge!" all while wearing the gown and wig! brilliant!

I think oddly enough, one of the best ro-Busters stories was the one which didn't feature Ro-Jaws and Hammerstein at all, the one set in Northpool with the giant robot pilot. Be interested to see what you think of that one when you've read it...

Enjoying Snapshot in the Meg. A big improvement on Numbercruncher and American Reaper.

Liked Holden's art on Samizdat Squad. A lot better than his stuff for Black Ops Extreme in Strip.

Interesting that Mark Millar says "I wrote some of the worst 2000ad stories ever... a good half of what I wrote was rubbish and the other half was just okay."

He's not wrong which makes it surprising that the Meg has been reprinting some of it lately, most recently Purgatory last month !

Millar is dead right in his assessment of his 2000AD stuff. He must have been rereading his abysmal Robo-Hunter series. I've never forgiven him for what he did to Sam Slade.

i've always been torn on millar and his stuff. i've found that the stories he did with grant (or stories based on grant's ideas) are amongst his better works, while the others aren't as grand.

i've only read a couple of his solo 2000ad stories (judge dredd), and i wasn't too much of a fan.

finally got to that story earlier this week. i liked charlie quite a bit -- he's one hardcore robot! the story was quite good, though how they decided to use him as a scapegoat was quite sad. though, i'm glad it ended on a positive note.

Satanus is one of those comparatively rare characters whose existence argues strongly for a cohesive timeline, or at leasta cohesive multiverse within the comics sprawling cosmology, linking Flesh, Judge dredd and Nemesis. I wish they'd done more stuff like that, though Pat Mills is certainly making up for lost time now...

i see that i'll be picking up where he appeared next, as apparently the cursed earth is collected in the judge dredd complete case files volume 2. i'll be ordering it come friday.

i've really enjoyed what i've read of the first complete case files. i prefer nemesis, but dredd has been very good thus far.

"Complete Case Files" is a bit of a misnomer in this case, as two instalments of The Cursed Earth are (as far as I know) not included, the two instalments which provoked legal action against IPC. It seems McDonalds, Burger King and the owners of the Jolly Green Giant don't have much appreciation of satire...

finished nemesis volume two, and i'm now working on nemesis volume three. so far, just as good as everything that's came before.

also, i finished the cursed earth portion of jd complete case files vol 2. aside from the missing chapters (which i've never read and, for all intents and purposes, probably never will get a chance to read), that was a great story. i'm halfway through the day the law died, and it's been wonderful as well. i went ahead and grabbed the third volume, just so there's no delay once i finish the second.

They could devote every strip in the comic to PJ Maybe and I wouldn't care if the stars of those strips appeared or not. Despite the conflicting evidence of his name, Philip Janet Maybe is da man!

Nice to see Nikolai Dante back, though sadly he's on his way out. Likewise Durham Red, mercifully back where she belongs after all that largely incomprehensible stuff about becoming a messiah, and the Dredd epic still has me hooked. Still not sure quite what to make of Grey Area, though...

Hmm. Wish I could be more enthusiastic, but this all looks a bit low budget generic sci-fi, to me-the sort of thingthat would be likely to go straight to video in the eighties. And I don't like those bland armoured uniforms.
