Mummy on the Orient Express
So, will this episode be a Hinchcliffe style classic or a classic fail? Discuss it here...

I liked it, but I am wondering where the Danny/Clara thing is going, and how long the Doctor is going to be a complete bastard. Great mummy, though. And Frank Skinner was wonderful.

I'm quite happy with Twelve being obnoxious for the rest of his tenure.

This is getting on my nerves, honestly. It comes across like Moffat is using The Doctor to tell the fans what he wants to say, rather than realizing The Doctor is an actual character, not just a mouthpiece. I'm really not into this season yet.
And, I really don't mind being reminded that The Doctor is an alien, a very old alien, and that thinking of him like a man (as Pink did) is a bad idea. That's not what bothers me. It's the speeches, (IMO) to make sure the fans see him the "right" way that's bugging me. Especially given that I've seen Moffat in interviews talk in a way that makes it clear he doesn't much like young, female fans. We get it, move on and get back to telling stories.
(That was more of a rant that I meant, sorry)

A position I respect, but get back to telling stories, ok?

Er, OK. Well, once upon a time there was a mutant cyborg Ninja named Martin, who lived in the small Irish town of Ballycraic...Mbast1 wrote:tony ingram wrote:I'm not sure Steemo actually likes anyone...

Either get rid of Danny Pink or have him marry Clara and both of them leave (hopefully the first option).
I think Capaldi is great as the Doctor, but I'm getting tired of his behavior as well. There are other ways to illustrate that the Doctor is an alien and not human. Hopefully his behavior can be modified next season.
As I'm adamantly opposed to tobacco I was dismayed to see the Doctor produce a cigarette case, until I saw that it was full of jelly babies.

OK.
I've never heard of a cigarillo case (or cigarillos, for that matter).
That just goes to show what little I know about tobacco products.

I knew that was coming, and yet did nothing to stop it...

I agree. Probably because I don't really like Clara, but these two just don't work as a couple for me. If nothing else, they've gotten them together very quickly.

Well, we don't actually know how much time is passing between episodes...Mbast1 wrote:karatattoo wrote:Either get rid of Danny Pink or have him marry Clara and both of them leave (hopefully the first option).

True, but I thought there were hints that (for him at least) not much time had passed.

I think Moffat is actually trying to give the impression that more time is passing for the Doctor between adventures with Clara, so I'm guessing these stories aren't necessarily set that close together.

That makes sense. There were some hints about her showing up at odd times on dates, but I thought that was meant to show she was spending time with the Doctor with little to no time passing for Pink.
I am really not paying much attention this season. I am just not that into it for some reason. I am enjoying watching, but it's lost something to me.

Every change of Doctor brings a change of direction, which can frequently be jarring. It took my other half about four episodes to accept Capaldi.

Took me longer than that to warm to Smith. And I wound up really liking him.
I suspect it's less DW, and more me. Too much going on. Finding it hard to unwind enough to really enjoy things. Ah, well, there are always repeat viewings!

Just think-when we started watching this stuff, there generally weren't repeat viewings!

iplayer has only been around since 2007. The internet itself only dates back to the 1980s, and only began to be used by the general public around about the time you were born.Lucy McGough wrote:I can't imagine a life before the iPlayer.tony ingram wrote:Just think-when we started watching this stuff, there generally weren't repeat viewings!
