I think the original costume suited him better than the red tights. But that said, Whatever Happened to the Crimson Avenger from DC Comics Presents #38 is still probably my all-time favourite DC Comics story...

A character who really deserves more exposure, but is unlikely ever to get it. First time I ever saw him was in DC Comics Presents #38, and Whatever Happened to the Crimson Avenger is still one of my all-time favourite stories.
