Before the Flood

Well, I liked it! I've always been fond of time paradoxes, and this one worked very well, I thought. Not quite so sure about Capaldi's tendency to directly address the audience, though (unless he was meant to be talking to an off-screen Clara).

I enjoyed this one a lot. It was fun, interesting and exciting. I actually like him "lecturing" like that, I can see his Doctor doing that just as a way to work about what he's thinking.

I agree, and looked at like that, it doesn't really matter whether he seems to be addressing another character or the viewers.

If Hartnell can break the fourth wall, then so can Capaldi.

Sadly, I didn't like this as much as 'Under the Lake'. However, I still downloaded it with the iPlayer to help the viewing figures.

What was the point of the Tivolian? He did naff all!

I think Whithouse just wanted to bring back one of his own creations. Sadly, I don't think the Tivolians will ever achieve the status of the Daleks. "Opress...us!" isn't a particularly terrifying war cry.

If I encountered a humanoid mole asking me to oppress him with a variety of devices, I'd be pretty flaming terrified affraid

I wonder if Mr Whithouse was inspired by the house elves in Harry Potter?
