As I mentioned in another thread recently, last year I bought the True Believers: Kirby 100th - Ant-Man and the Wasp #1.
original Ant-Man (and the Wasp): Hank & Janet True_b10
which reprinted the Ant-Man stories from Tales to Astonish #27 and #44.

And, more recently, I picked up a copy of True Believers: Ant-Man and the Wasp - The Birth of Giant-Man #1
original Ant-Man (and the Wasp): Hank & Janet True_b11
which reprinted the Ant-Man stories from Tales to Astonish #35 and #49.

Before reading the "latest" issue, I also took out the "Kirby 100th" issue so I could read the four stories in chronological order of how they were originally published.
And, man, comparing those stories from the early 1960s with how comics are done these days, it does hit you in the head with a giant mental mallet how those old stories look like more like Swiss cheese when it comes to the stupid, silly plot holes that riddle them!

(Still, there is something about the old style of hope and optimism that can be comforting, too.)

They are ever so slightly loopy, but fun. I don't think I'd want modern comics done in that style, but these cheap little reprints are a guilty pleasure from time to time. Have you seen the latest one, Scott Lang's debut from Marvel Premiere #47? Quite a bit later than the others, obviously, but still a great story (I still have the original).

Haven't seen that yet, but I think I heard it would be coming.
"Birth of Giant-Man" happened to be on the "New this Week" racks when I last got comic books, so that was the only reason I was aware of its existence. I'd probably have passed on the Scott Lang/Marvel Premiere one since I also already have that story from issues #47-48 by David Michelinie / John Byrne / Bob Layton (and thoroughly enjoyed them!).

For 0.75 (UK pricing, obviously) from my POV it's worth buying soe of the stuff I already have just as reading copies.
