I don't know if you have Netflix in England, or that this is on there, but I finished the series today. My thoughts below.

First, a warning. A LOT of sex in the first few episodes, and very, very violent.

But, then, it's VERY dark. No one comes out of this in one piece, and some fare worse than others. A lot worse.

It's also very well done. Well-written and acted, interesting story, nice pacing and all the technical stuff you'd want. Although someone pointed out that the pacing doesn't seem to recognize that it's a series, and they're right, but it's only a series in part. Let's face it, when you release an entire season of a show at once, it's not the same as one per week. Not only in the sense that people WILL binge-watch, which can be done with any complete season (series to you) DVD set, but it's in one chunk, even if in pieces. More a novel than a serialized magazine story.

I'm just surprised Marvel is taking so adult a direction, but it works. For me.

I've watched all of it apart from the final two episodes. I had to stop because it was giving me a headache. I thought that it was very adult, but in a good way. It shows that life can be hard and contain bad things as well as superheroes swooping down from the sky to fix everything.

I particularly liked the subplot with the lawyer, her wife and her lover. Excellent acting all round. Hats off to the casting director.

Did you ever finish it? I'd like to hear what you think. I'm working on finishing Daredevil now. Among other things.

Also, I think we were talking a while ago about the Satanic Verses. I have found a copy, and I'd send it to you if you tell me where to mail it. I think it would be fun to send something across the world.

Today's my birthday so I'll have to go downstairs soon and be sociable for the rest of the evening, with Scrabble and that, but I promise I'll finish it tomorrow.

Full disclosure: I've just borrowed it from the library, but I haven't started it yet, and I'd rather have your copy if you can afford to send it because it would be fun to receive something from an internet friend Embarassed

If that doesn't sound too daft, email me at lucymcgough@gmail.com and I'll tell you my address.

I finished watching Jessica Jones and I really enjoyed it. However, I think it ended a bit abruptly, which is probably a deliberate ploy to get viewers gagging for a sequel. I'll definitely watch the next series.

I'd bet you're right, although I thought it was the exact ending they had to be heading for. I thought it was really well done.

It was, but after watching poor old Jess get spat on by life for 13 episodes I'd've liked an ending that gave her a small sliver of happiness...

Yes, it was miles better than Broadchurch.

I have a TV with apps allowing me to watch Netflix, and there are Roku-type boxes to allow you to watch as if it were cable. Would that work for you?

I thought about trying to copy it with VHS tape, but I think I tried that a while ago and it didn't work. I could see if there's a way online and try again.

Put it this way: my TV is over ten years old and takes two people to lift, and I'm terrified of touching any of the cables in case I can't get my Sky box to work again. How much of your sentence do you imagine I understood, Mike? Razz

Resurrecting this topic as well.
I thought JJ season 1 was well done. Of course, with David Tennant playing the villain it was a bonus. More bloody and graphic than the Daredevil Netflix series, but..Naturally seeing the Luke Cage character in JJ made me watch the Luke Cage series as well!

We still haven't managed to finish Luke Cage, not because it's not worth persevering with, but because of the sheer volume of shows on our "must watch" list!

I know what you mean! I have been steadily catching u with the Marvel and DC tv series over the last 18 months, Hadn't really thought Arrow was going to be any good and then heard they'd spun Flash pout of it, so bought the DVDs and started watching from beginning. Currently just started Flash series 3 with Arrow series 4 and Legends of Tomorrow season 2! Enjoying all the versions of those characters I read about in the comics over the years!
Also watched Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Now I've got Netflix in my devices, The Defenders is up next (and Punisher and then JJ searies 2...) . Especially like the inter-linking of the Netflix series - reminiscent of how Marvel co,mics used to ber back in the day... *sigh!*
And I won't mention AStar Trek Discovery...

Arrow is, ironically, the only one of the Arrowverse shows I just can't seem to summon up any enthusiasm for. It seems to me to be tonally completely different to the other three shows. I loved Gotham, though...

Good grief, do I get this. This is a great time for a lot of stuff I am liking, but the only way I'll see it all is if I win the lottery and don't leave my house for a year.

I felt Iron Fist was the weakest of the Marvel Netflix shows so far, but that doesn't mean to say it's all bad. I do enjoy seeing how they link asll the shows together with various off-the-cuff references, etc.

Thor:Ragnarok is fairly light-hearted, perhaps more so than Guardians of the Galaxy, but still great fanboy material.
