The only official word we've had is that Capaldi was asked to stay on some time ago.

Nah, MOST of them are. Too many journalists don't bother knowing what they're reporting on in any depth. Although, tv news is often worse.

I'm glad. I've grown to like him a lot. Not that I'm not used to them leaving, but I think he's got more good stories left in him.

I would hesitate to describe anyone employed by The Mirror, or any of the oher redtops, as a "journalist". Mostly, these days they just seem to cobble together stories from unfounded speculation on the internet.

It has to be what's right for him. I'll be gutted when he leaves, but I wouldn't want him to stay on in such a physically and emotionally demanding role if it had become more of a burden than a pleasure. That'd be like me going to a family party to please my parents, and then spending the entire evening sitting in a corner feeling miserable.

Like, he should stay for as long as he enjoys it.
