National Apple Strudel Day (U.S.)

Post by MajorHoy on Sun Jun 17, 2018 2:25 am

Looks like not only is June 17th "National Apple Strudel Day" (or, if you prefer, "Apfelstrudel Day") here in the U.S.

It's also, apparently, "Eat Your Vegetables Day".

So much for June 17th!

Is there a single day of the year that isn't national something day somewhere?

By the way, some sites list today (June 17th) as "National Cherry Tart Day", but others put it on June 18th, June 19th, or June 21st.

Not sure why it might not be June 20th, but that day appears to be International Surfing Day (but I think that only applies to surfing done on the water, not web-surfing or channel-surfing on the telly, though there may possibly be an exception if there's a penguin on the telly).

Well, it may not be June 4th now, but it would be okay to go hug a cat if it would help. Razz

Well, then, just walk down the road and look for a cat to hug.

Depends on the cat and how much pressure you apply.

I found a cat to have a quick chat to. Does that count?

Did you tell the cat that today is Juneteenth?
(Yes, it's a "thing" here in the states, but it depends on who you are / what you read or listen to as to whether you're aware of it.)

Yes it is.

It's a portmanteau
Definition of portmanteau in English:

2.) word blending the sounds and combining the meanings of two others, for example motel or brunch.
* ‘podcast is a portmanteau, a made-up word coined from a combination of the words iPod and broadcast’
* ‘a portmanteau word combining smoke and fog’

Why was he called Happy St John? Was he of a naturally cheerful disposition, or just permanently stoned?
