Last Who You Watched
Surprised there isn't one of these already!
Aliens of London 2parter. Great fun.
The Empty Child 2parter. Simply sensational - one of the best Doctor Who stories ever, and there's not many 21st century stories I'd say that about.
Last of the Time Lords 3parter. Some fine moments, but ends a bit of a mess. Still the best Tennant finale though (not that that's saying very much, admittedly ).

Re: Last Who You Watched
A Christmas Carol - Matt Smiths finest moment so far.
The Seeds Of Doom - Tom and Liz at their best.
Underworld - First episode is OK, but the rest is tedious. I was in danger of slipping into a coma during Ep 3. I know all about the lack of funds for this one, I suppose its amazing they managed to make anything. The CSO caves and tunnels look strangly sureal on restored DVD, and I haven't got a problem with them, even if at the end of the day it's all a bit naff. It's just the dire story that kills this. I remember thinking the same on original transmission, and time has done nothing to enhance this one.

Geez, I couldn't handle it, Tony. I like skipping around too much.

A bunch of series 5's again (including the finale - wicked, as Ace might say) plus Dalek (overrated) and Planet of the Ood (very underrated).

There's no 'possibly' about it, DM. Even RTD couldn't have aspired to write a story worse than Time & the Rani.

Very true, though some people have been known to actually like Time and the Rani.

Re: Last Who You Watched
I'd still rather watch season 24 (maybe not TATR, admittedly) than series 2 or a half dozen from series 4 (now those were dark days indeed.
Dragonfire vs the likes of New Earth?
Paradise Towers vs Journey's End?
Delta vs Partners in Crime?
I know what I'd rather watch.
Thank heavens for Steven Moffat!

Re: Last Who You Watched
For me, there is no doubt that 'the dark days' were seasons 20 -24 inclusive. I can count the decent stories on one hand.
But I don't dismiss the 1980's outright, as some people do. I love Season 18 and have a soft spot for Davison's first year. Things really pick up later with Season 25. And 26 is stellar from beginning to end.

Re: Last Who You Watched
I tend to agree that much of Davison's tenure was somewhat lacking, but I loved Colin Baker's time on the showe-rewatching it recently really brought home to me how much. I think the only one of his stories that falls flat for me is The Two Doctors, which is odd because Bob Holmes rarely turned in a duff script. I think he was simply made to cram in too much (the Sontarans, the Spanish setting) that wasn't really relevant to the plot.

Season 22 is awesome.
Not much wrong with 20 or 21, either, come to that.

It's fairly average. I don't hate it (bar Mindwarp, which is abominable) and it has a certain appeal but it's a big comedown after 22 for me.

Re: Last Who You Watched
I watched it very recently and was surprised at how much I enjoyed all of it. The only letdown for me is the ending, but given the circumstances under which part 14 was made, it's hardly surprising it was a dog's dinner.

Just give me the following from 20-24 and you can keep the rest:
Enlightenement, Frontios, Caves, Revelation, and er...er...The Five Docs.
Yep, you can count 'em on one hand

I couldn't sacrifice any of Colin, apart from The Two Doctors and the Twin Dilemma. And I also have a curios fondness for Mawdrn Undead and for Nyssa's finest hour, Terminus, as well as planet of Fire. Most of the others I'd tend to agree with you on.

Re: Last Who You Watched
i dont dislike The Twin Dilemma, but it could have been a lot better. I do like the Teo Doctors, though it is too long. I like most of Colin Baker's run, the worst being Mark of The Rani, and Pip and Jayne's part of Trial. though most of Trial could have been much better.
and even season 24 is not completely appaling, Time and the Rani totally sucks, Pardise Towers was a slight improvement. But only slight. and Delta and The Bannerman was a bit better. Dragonfire being the best of the season.
Seasons 25 and 26 are much better i even like The Happiness Patrol.

Somewhere, if you look deep enough, past the awful production values, intrusive soundtrack, past the quite breathtakingly bad guest performances, and ignoring Bonnie Langford completely, there is, without a doubt, two brilliant scripts desperatly trying to reach the surface in both Paradise Towers and Delta and The Bannermen.
It's just that they're fighting a losing battle.

Re: Last Who You Watched
Oh, I agree! Delta, I think, is basically flawed since we never actually find out who the Bannermen are or what their motives are for wiping out the Chimerons, but it's still not half bad as an actual story. And Paradise Towers really does work on more than one level, it just ooks crap.kembel wrote:Somewhere, if you look deep enough, past the awful production values, intrusive soundtrack, past the quite breathtakingly bad guest performances, and ignoring Bonnie Langford completely, there is, without a doubt, two brilliant scripts desperatly trying to reach the surface in both Paradise Towers and Delta and The Bannermen.

The King's Demons. Below average.
The Bad Wolf 2 parter. Excellent for the most part. The final scene is very, very depressing though.

Ingram, I have had enough of this behavior from you. Therefore, you are hereby sacked as editor and chief writer of Crikey!. And I will have the last laugh when I don't renew the hosting on this website. You may purchase it for £1000.
Anyway - I met Mr Fourth Doctor Who in the mid 70s. When I introduced myself he said, "Who?". I thought he was Who - but he thought it was me. Hmm.

Technically, the only person to play a Doctor called Who was Peter Cushing. Though Kenneth Williams played a Doctor called Watt.GBF wrote:Ingram, I have had enough of this behavior from you.
