Dumbest Superhero origins?
Who would you say had the dumbest origin of any superhero? By which, I mean the most imaginative, most fun but most unlikely? Personally, I'd nominate either:
The original Blue Beetle (gained a variety of super powers from a vitamin pill he used to buy from the local pharmacy)
The original Black Condor (learned to fly as a result of being lost in the wilderness as a child and raised by a flock of wild condors)
or the Whizzer (gained super speed from a life saving transfusion of Mongoose blood).

Those are all very, very bad, but I've always considered Wally West's origin to be the absolute worst. Even as a kid I couldn't believe how lazy it was. Mark Waid tried to touch it up a bit, as I recall, but all he really wound up doing was making an absurd coincidence into a bizarre paradox. Points for effort, though.

I think Waid did a good job on that story but yeah, the original was very lazy writing. I don't think you'd have caught me within a mile of Barry Allen's lab, the place was obviously jinxed!

Most of 'em are pretty dumb if you stop and think about them for a minute...

I guess Batman is the closest to being actually possible, though he'd have to be pretty demented.BluesShark wrote:Most of 'em are pretty dumb if you stop and think about them for a minute...

Batman's origin is only possibly if there are no psychiatrists in Gotham.

Well, there are at least three: Jeremiah Arkham, Harley Quinn and Professor Hugo Strange. But they're all nuttier than Batman...Lucy McGough wrote:Batman's origin is only possibly if there are no psychiatrists in Gotham.
