New Companion Confirmed
Emmerdale's Jenna-Louise Coleman is to be the Doctor's new companion, it's been announced. It appears she'll debut in the Christmas Special, so we've a few more episodes of Amy and Rory to go yet...

Re: New Companion Confirmed
There have already been complaints from some quarters of fandom that she's "too pretty" and therefore not "quirky and interesting", and that "we wouldn't have got her under RTD". (which I guess is literally true, but still...). I leave it to you to work out which quarters these complaints are issuing from...

The people who are the reason I avoid fandom altogether (aside from here), probably!

Re: New Companion Confirmed
I find Who fandom wonderfully illogical. I particularly love the inherent paranoia which which compels some fans who were around in the mid eighties to automatically assume that the show exists on a knife edge and that every minor change in format or schedule is a sign of impending cancellation...

Yes. because Billy Piper and (particularly) Freema Agyemani looked liked they'd been hit with the ugly stick soooooo often....

I wonder if she'll be an alien or just another modern Earthling.

I'm hoping alien. And there are rumours going around to that effect.

It's looking good. I gather they went to Spain to film the scenes in the old West.

Re: New Companion Confirmed
That story had better reference 'The Gunfighters', or there's going to be trouble.

Yeah, I think she'd at least deserve a regeneration scene.

Oh, more than that! I think a story in whih the Doctor interacts with a granddaughter who now appears to be twice his age would be fascinating if done right...Sam_Vimes wrote:Yeah, I think she'd at least deserve a regeneration scene.

Re: New Companion Confirmed
Bad news---She's probably not Susan. Apparently, her name is Clara. Just read it. Then again, River Song isn't using HER real name so maybe there's hope.

Ooh, where did you pick up that info?
P.S. If my real name was Melody, I wouldn't use it either

Re: New Companion Confirmed
Oh, I'm glad you asked. Because when I went back to my original source and asked for THEIR source I found that it was this:
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/4349528/Doctor-Whos-new-female-companion-could-be-called-Clara.html
So, yeah, I'm glad you asked because it could very well just be a rumor or a misdirection, rather than the concrete and confirmed statement I was led to believe it was.
Still foolishly hoping for Susan. . . .

"Clara"? I had a great aunt called Clara. Will the next one be called "Maude"?
