Batman Brave and the Bold
I don't know if you get this in Britain, but does anyone watch the Batman Brave and the Bold tv shows?
If you like classic DC, I think you'll love this. I've got the first 2 seasons on DVD now, and I am only sorry they're cancelling it. It has so many great DC characters, and it's just the right combination of serious and silly to be fun. I love it.

I used to watch it with my daughter. She loved it. Shame they canned it for "Beware The Batman", which looks mildly awful (as seen here: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/70/Bewarethebatman-promotional.jpg).
She particularly liked Plastic Man and Aquaman, two characters who otherwise would not have been on a little girl's radar. Really, it's such a shame it's gone. Would it really be so bad to have two Batman shows on the air at once? There's 4 Batman comics. . . .

Yeah, it doesn't make sense to me. Wouldn't they be on entirely different networks? How many television shows used to have cartoons as spin-offs with different tones? Happy Days, Mork and Mindy, Laverne and Shirley, and more. Doesn't make much sense, especially given how few people watch any one network, seems WB would make more money with more licensing.

And from what I've seen and heard of Beware the Batman ... huh?
I'm all for the using some of the lesser villains. Joker has been used too much. But Katanna? Is that to be PC and spread some multiculturality? I never thought the character was very appealing. And an Alfred revision? And I hate the way the Green Lantern series looks, so I know I'm not going to like this either.

It looks badly drawn and uninteresting. I just don't get the appeal.

i love the series. i still need to get the second part of the second season, plus watch most of the third season, but i've loved every one i've watched. and the fact that they showcase some of the lesser known characters is just awesome.

Curiously, I've never seen the show on TV over here, but I have seen action figures and a comic based on it...

That is odd. I think, though, that you might really like the show. Try finding an episode on Youtube, if you do, let me know what you think.

The first volume of the comic book based on Batman: The Brave and the Bold could be hit-or-miss depending on who was writing it. The second volume, with Sholly Fisch as the regular writer, was a really fun book.tony ingram wrote:Curiosly, I've never seen the show on TV over here, but I have seen action figures and a comic based on it...

I've since gotten hold of a couple of DVDs of the show, mostly because they contained episodes with the JSA. Wonderful stuff.
I miss the JSA...

A fun issue, with more heroes appearing for the final page.
(And written by the same guy who writes Scooby-Doo! Team-Up these days.)

Interesting...
Sadly, as far as the show goes, only the first series seems to have been released on DVD in the UK< though I've since caught a few later episodes (including the last JSA one) on TV. I'd really like to get a complete set.

I'd send you a set, but I think we have different DVD formats. Boo.
