Picture Story Publications? Empty Picture Story Publications?

Post by ramonschenk on Tue Oct 23, 2012 12:31 pm

This came up recently on the Grand Comics Database e-mail lists. Can anyone here help shed some light?

>I'm seeking advice on what to do with a publisher currently not in the
>database -- UK publisher Picture Story Publications.
>In brief:
>The digest-size comic "Red Rose Romances" was published in 1959 by Picture
>Story Publications of 47a Beak Street, London, W.1.
>The issue and the publisher are not listed in any of the usual indexes that
>I have access to -- including Gifford's Complete Catalogue of British
>Comics. And there is virtually noting on the internet.
>There is some indirect indication on the internet that Picture Story
>Publications was the publisher of Boyfriend, the UK music magazine/comic for
>girls (http://www.comics.org/series/66906/).
>However, Boyfriend is usually listed as published by City Magazines, with no
>mention of Picture Story Publications.
> Information on the comic is available here:
> For detail, see my comments in the change history at
> http://www.comics.org/changeset/1629498/compare/.
> So, the question is:
> Should Picture Story Publications be a new Master Publisher? or
> Should Picture Story Publications Ltd. be an indica publisher under City
> Magazines?
> Regards
> James

Translation: is PSP part of City Magazines in some way, or otherwise connected?
