Disney Buys Lucasfilm-New Star Wars in 2015, but What About the Comics?
Disney have bought Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion dollars, and are planning Star Wars episode 7 (set after ROTJ) for 2015, apparently with little or no involvement from George Lucas. Not sure this will end well, and I'll bet Dark Horse Comics are getting worried, given that Disney also owns Marvel!

I'm NOT a fan of SW, so this doesn't mean much to me, but is Disney trying to own everything?

I think you have just figured out their ultimate goal, yes.

Does this mean they own Indiana Jones, too?

That whole question seems a little confused right now...

Meh. I already know what'll happen in the seventh film, 'cos I read the comics. Han and Leia have three sprogs, and one of them goes over to the dark side, and Luke gets together with a hot redhead, and the Emperor has a whole spaceship full of clones tucked away somewhere.

The only potential problem I can see with that is that Luke, Han and the Princess are now looking rather the worse for wear in real life. I doubt many hot redheads will be falling at Mr. Skywalker's feet these days...

Not unless he shoots them with a tranquilliser gun first, no
But they're obviously gonna recast, right? They'll get some shiny happy people who were in Twilight or whatever the young folks are watching nowadays. Big names will put bums on seats. I'm off to my local turf accountant to put £10 on Justin Bieber for Luke Skywalker.

I guess they could make the movie focus on Han and Leia's kids....
(The one they named Anakin ended up turning to the dark side, thus demonstrating comprehensively that George Lucas has all the imagination and inventiveness of a frozen pea.)

If I was lumbered with a name like Anakin, I'd turn to the dark side...

As long as they don't go with that Shia LaBeouf actor as they "new" Indy, that's ok.

Oh gosh, I forgot about that. I remember George Lucas was seriously considering a Mutt-only movie at one point and the geek world collectively screamed "No!!!". Honestly, what could he have been THINKING?

What was he thinking when he wrote the prequels? Since ROTJ, I think Lucas has basically treated the Star Wars properties as though he were a kid playing with his action figures, idly creating any story that occurred to him regardless of whether it firts with what came before...

Re: Disney Buys Lucasfilm-New Star Wars in 2015, but What About the Comics?
We've known for months now that Dark Horse's line of Star Wars comic titles would be ending sometime this year, but now we know when (sort of): August.
In the just-released solicitations for the publisher's August 2014 titles both ongoing series, Star Wars and Star Wars: Legacy, are billed as series finales. Dark Horse's other remaining limited series Star Wars: Darth Maul—Son of Dathomir concludes in August as well and publisher has confirmed August will be the last month they publish new Star Wars comic books.
They will, however, still be publishing some new trades in subsequent months and a Dark Times Gallery Edition.
