Marvel Trademarks Kimota!
It seems that Marvel have trademarked the word 'Kimota', the 'magic word' used in the classic Marvelman stories as their version of 'Shazam', leading some to speculate that there may finally be movement on the Marvelman front. Or is this purely an exercise in stopping anyone from publishing a version of the character under that name, as DC have with Shazam/Captain Marvel?

I don't think we can know until they do something, but given Marvel's trademark ferver over the years, I wouldn't be at all surprised by this.

Maybe they want to do a movie. After all, if they beat DC to the punch in the feature film department then the general public would think that Shazam is the derivative one, wouldn't they? I don't think I'd be able to pass that up, myself.

A Marvelman movie could be the best comics based movie ever, or the worst. I know which I'd bet on, sadly.

The problem would be basing it on Moore's run, due to the legal issues I doubt that can be done. And it would be VERY dark. So that might not be commercial enough. Which sucks, because it's amazing.

That's the thing-until/unless agreement can be reached with all parties involved in the eighties run, it would have to be based on the Mick Anglo stories, which are really not going to work with today's audiences.

I don't think Marvel (or anyone else) would have published a comic book called "Kimota!", though . . . people would have thought it was a comic book with people dressed like this:
Now, it might be a different story if they could get Jim Nabors to say "Kimota!" all the time . . .

Those ladies look well pretty. Wonder how many hours it takes them to get ready in the morning?

Don't most socks have toes in them, when they're being worn?Mbast1 wrote:Lucy McGough wrote:They're just plain white socks.

Actually, most socks I'm use to don't have separate toe divisions . . . but then again, the shoe straps may be causing that effect here.tony ingram wrote:Don't most socks have toes in them, when they're being worn?Mbast1 wrote:So you say, but it looks as though they have toes in them!Lucy McGough wrote:They're just plain white socks.

They still have toes in them. Unless you have no toes?MajorHoy wrote:Actually, most socks I'm use to don't have separate toe divisions . . . but then again, the shoe straps may be causing that effect here.tony ingram wrote:Don't most socks have toes in them, when they're being worn?Mbast1 wrote:So you say, but it looks as though they have toes in them!Lucy McGough wrote:They're just plain white socks.

Depends on if there are feet in them or not . . . if you have socks on your hands, they don't have toes in them.tony ingram wrote:They still have toes in them. By the way, you don't think Marvel is going to change the name of the character from "Miracleman" to "Kimota!", do you?
