Comic-related Charities
Ok, so I'm going to be breaking my own rules, and I need a little help with ideas for balancing it out.
I'm taking an online course (https://www.canvas.net/courses/gender-through-comic-books, if anyone else is interested) involving comic books and it will cause me to buy some DC comics. I might be able to get by with only a few (I might have some, I might be able to find some at a used bookstore, etc.) but I think I'm going to have to buy at least a few new.
I'd like to offset that by giving money to a comic-related charity. I know about CBLDF, but I'm thinking more along the lines of a charity that gives to creators. I know there are some, but I wonder what others think, might have done, etc. Since I'm going to be giving some to a corporation I don't like, how do I give to creators?
Thanks!

Re: Comic-related Charities
The Hero Initiative is the one you're looking for, I think. Formed to help older creators who have fallen on hard times. Contact details as follows:
The Hero Initiative
11301 Olympic BLVD., #587
Los Angeles, CA 90064
Phone: (310) 909-7809
email: Heroinitiative@aol.com
The organization is headed up by comics creators (including Joe Quesada, Jim Valentino, Roy Thomas, Denny O'Neill and George Perez) and regularly holds auctions and other fundraising events. Creators in need can apply to them for help, and if anyone wishes to donate, they accept cheques or PayPal.

That should be perfect! Thanks. I think I've even heard of that one.
