Favorite DC Heroines
Favorite DC Heroines?
I thought it might be fun to have a poll regarding favorite heroines from the various companies, and I started with DC. I also decided to maybe focus more on pre-Crisis on Infinite Earths characters, but even that was hard since the poll limit turns out to be only ten (10!) here!
(Why, Tony? Why?)
Anyway, this poll should hopefully allow for people to choose more than one character, but I wouldn't be surprised if "Other" is the big winner. And some of those other characters I intended to include but couldn't were:
* Big Barda (Barda Free)
* Huntress (Helena Wayne)
* Mera
* Power Girl (Kara Zor-L / Karen Starr)
* Thorn (Rose Forrest)
* Wonder Girl (Donna Troy)
and there still many, many more . . .

Are you going with modern "Kate"Lucy McGough wrote:Wonder Woman and Batwoman (Ms Kane).
Or, in the spirit of Silver Age heroines, the more iconic "Kathy"?

Kate, I'm afraid. I like her origin story and the whole character. Pity they wouldn't let her make an honest woman of Maggie Sawyer.

My vote goes to Crazy Jane (Kay Challis) from Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol.

Phantom Lady, though I agree that Shiera Hall was great, too.

I like all versions of Hawkgirl/Hawkwoman for one basic reason: they were all fearless fighters, just like the various Hawkmen.

If I copy and then paste into the Quotes icon (just about the smiley face), it seems to work. If I click on Quote on a particular post, it doesn't work.

Supergirl.
Really, would I have voted for anyone else?
Also, Power Girl, if the poll limit had been more than ten.

By the way, wasn't the "original" Wonder Girl actually Diana when she was younger?tony ingram wrote:Good choice-I'm glad Donna Troy is now back.indybrand13 wrote:The original wonder girl
I thought the "Donna Troy" identity was only created because young Wonder Woman wouldn't have been around at the same time as Robin, Kid Flash, and Aqualad.

Re: Favorite DC Heroines?
She was never referred to as Diana. In the original Teen Titans series she was only ever called Wonder Girl. I think they realized quite quickly that she shouldn't have existed as a separate character, but it still took them years to give her a distinct secret identity of her own.MajorHoy wrote:By the way, wasn't the "original" Wonder Girl actually Diana when she was younger?tony ingram wrote:Good choice-I'm glad Donna Troy is now back.indybrand13 wrote:The original wonder girl

Maybe not in Teen Titans, but the first appearance of "Wonder Girl" as part of that team was in a 1965 issue of The Brave and the Bold.tony ingram wrote:She was never referred to as Diana. "Wonder Girl" was a character who had previously appeared in the Wonder Woman comic book, having a feature that started in 1959.
That Wonder Girl was Diana when she was younger. And, as with Wonder Tot (baby Diana), she would sometimes wear an outfit that was similar to Wonder Woman in terms of a red top with an eagle and blue shorts with white stars.
(And that character design was the one that was first used in Teen Titans; they had to then give her a separate identity from Diana later on.)

Re: Favorite DC Heroines?
Ah, this is our problem: as far as I know, she never was referred to as "Diana" in a Teens Titan story.tony ingram wrote:I do know the history of the character, I just wasn't aware she'd ever been referred to as Diana in any Titans story.MajorHoy wrote:Maybe not in Teen Titans, but the first appearance of "Wonder Girl" as part of that team was in a 1965 issue of The Brave and the Bold.

(And that character design was the one that was first used in Teen Titans; they had to then give her a separate identity from Diana later on.)
But, since the younger Diana as Wonder Girl appeared in a feature prior to the first appearance of the Teen Titans, and since the "Wonder Girl" that appeared in Teen Titans was basically the same character design as the young Diana version of "Wonder Girl", to me that makes young Diana the "original Wonder Girl".
You're referring to "original Wonder Girl" as strictly the character from Teen Titans, which might be similar to saying that the guy who became Superboy-Prime or perhaps Kon-El/Conner Kent were the "original Superboy" if you ignore Kal-El/Clark Kent's history of "Superman as a boy".
