Happy 75th Anniversary, Hawkman!
Just because I completely forgot that Carter Hall also first appeared in Flash Comics #1...

I wonder what may have reminded you?
(By the way, Johnny Thunder and The Whip also appeared in that first issue.)
(I don't know that much about Cliff Cornwall, though.
Doesn't look like he was around for more than year or two.)

Well, you did.MajorHoy wrote:I wonder what may have reminded you?
Yes, but it's a bit late to be apportioning blame for them...

I have it on good authority that Cliff Cornwall, disillusioned by the lukewarm reaction to his exploits as an adventurer, eventually gave it up and became a highly successful insurance salesman in Keystone City. The market really opened up after all those super villains arrived!

I'd bet being an insurance salesman in ANY universe with superbeings would suck. Who would insure anything when it could be knocked down in so many ways?

There's probably a universal get-out clause. Act of Metahuman, or something.Mbast1 wrote:tony ingram wrote:I have it on good authority that Cliff Cornwall, disillusioned by the lukewarm reaction to his exploits as an adventurer, eventually gave it up and became a highly successful insurance salesman in Keystone City. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I always thought the double beaked helmet looked a bit dumb. It must have made it very difficult to eat or drink anything...

I could never really get into the Siver Age versions. In the case of the Hawks, I think the originals were always the best. Reincarnated Egyptian royalty? That has an air of mystery and grandeur about it. Space cops who dress like birds? That's just dumb.

Happy 80th Anniversary Golden Age Hawkman (Carter Hall / Prince Khufu)
Well, now he's all that . . . and more!tony ingram wrote:I could never really get into the Siver Age versions. In the case of the Hawks, I think the originals were always the best. In keeping with the idea of honoring the original, Golden Age version, here's what the cover for Hawkman #27 (by Bryan Hitch, due out September 8th, 2020) is suppose to look like:
