Flash television show
Is anyone watching the Flash television show? I already expressed my problems with Arrow, and since this is a spin-off I was worried. But I was wrong. This show has been so much fun. Stories are well-told and there are some Easter Eggs tossed around, but nothing you HAVE to know because you'll find out the important ones as you go along. The rest are just there to give long-time fans a treat, I think.

I really tried with Flash, i kept coming back to it even though it didn't initially click with me, but...it still hasn't clicked with me. I have no idea why. I love Gotham, but I just can't get into Flash or Arrow.

I have been enjoying both - great to see some "fun" and well budgeted TV versions to watch at last...

I don't really watch Arrow, I explained my problems with it at the outset. I do, though, enjoy Flash a lot. I just think it's a lot of fun. Plus I love the guest shots.

I do, and am enjoying it. I like that they're using the Inhumans (I've long thought they were underused) and that they're making the characters more interesting. Still some rough spots, but I like it.

The Inhumans weren't an obvious choice, but they do seem to be working. And I like the fact that they've expanded the cast and keep slightly altering the team dynamic. There's talk of a spin-off series for Mockingbird and Hunter. Could be interesting.

I love that Flash show. I hate Iris, but everything else about it is good. I still haven't seen a single episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for some reason. I really can't figure out why not. It's so unlike me.

Just more of a superhero fan than a spy fan, perhaps? Though with this second season, SHIELD is firmly into superhero territory a lot of the time.Sam_Vimes wrote:I love that Flash show. Yeah, I hear Mockingbird's in it. Are there any others?

So far, we've had the Absorbing Man, Deathlok, Lady Sif, Blackout, Angar the Screamer, the Kree, the Inhumans, and now agent Skye has been revealed to be Daisy Johnson (AKA Quake). There are probably others I've forgotten.Sam_Vimes wrote:tony ingram wrote:Just more of a superhero fan than a spy fan, perhaps? I don't know. I like comic book Iris. I just don't think the one on the show has been given anything interesting to do or say, and her acting sometimes is difficult for me to behold. Maybe I'll like her better on a rewatch, that happens sometimes.

Well. shoot. Maybe I'll go watch the first season on Netflix now.

The first season starts off slow and takes awhile to get going, but shifts into high gear around the time that it dovetails with the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It's worth the wait, though.

Ok, just curious. I've always found the comic Iris to be a cipher, like many of the women in the lives of the superheroes. She never really seemed to have much to her, to me, and so I like the TV version because she seems to have more depth. But, that's my perception.
The only reason I liked the Iris on the 1990 Flash was because it was Paula Marshall...

Like Barry Allen himself, I think Iris was only really of any interest as a character when she was dead.

I wish I could defiantly say that Barry was interesting to ME before he was dead, but he died when I was negative one so I suppose I can't.

I think Barry, to me, was the least interesting character in the pre-Crisis line-up, he seemed to have no personality at all.

I don't know. I liked him. To be honest, though, a lot of my interest in the character stems from truly loving the 1990 series on TV. I think Barry had a lot of potential in the comics, but that TV show really let me see him do fun things.

It didn't really catch on over HERE, either, Tony. Which is a shame, because it was pretty great. I think I read somewhere that the main reason it didn't so well was because it ran up against up The Simpsons. A Batman show probably could've beaten those odds, but a Flash show? I don't know what they were thinking.

Probably the same nitwits who scheduled the 1996 Doctor Who TV Movie against a key episode of Roseanne...Sam_Vimes wrote:It didn't really catch on over HERE, either, Tony. Oh, geez, I just looked that up. I distinctly remember my family watching David and Darlene's wedding that night, and I'm sure most of America was watching it right along with us. What could have been...

Re: Flash television show
What was really annoying was that the movie got over nine million viewers in the UK, but the BBC couldn't go ahead with a new series because the rights were locked into the deal with Fox for the next several years and they didn't want to do anything with it.

It also bounced around to different days/times. I loved it, and just completely lost track of it after about half a season.
THAT, I think, is the sign that a network doesn't care about a show.

Anyone seen the Legends of Tomorrow preview? It looks as if it could be fun.
And having Rory as Rip Hunter was a good bit of casting IMO.

Arthur Darvill is a good actor, but for some reason having Rip Hunter be a Londoner just doesn't feel right to me. Rip has always struck me as a traditional, all-American movie serial hero figure, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, that show looks RAD. And it's good to see Rory in something again, especially playing a time traveler. I don't now if he's right for Rip or not, as (outside of his part in Booster Gold) I'm not really sure what Rip's LIKE, but I'm sure it'll at least get the show some fangirl crossover to help keep it alive.

OK, based on that image I actually sat and watched the finale. It hasn't completely won me over (and I don't understand how, if Thawne now never existed, the timeline is still in place) but I enjoyed it, kind of. And it was worth it just for that tin hat.
The season two finale of Gotham, which I also saw tonight, was better though.

Someone else said the same thing, and that's how I knew he was going to kill himself.
It was probably a spur of the moment thing, because Thawne had said he was going to kill them all.
