...And I HATE it. Not because of Affleck, or anything, he's fine, but because I honestly don't think Geoff "gets" Batman. He's always putting him down to boost other characters up.

I've never been one to buy into the Batman beats everyone else line of thinking, but he IS a character to be feared.
Have you seen the SDCC trailer for Superman vs. Batman? Half-interesting take, in that it responds to the carnage of MoS, but it just looks like the worse kind of paranoid nightmare dystopia nonsense.
And Martha Kent telling Clark he doesn't owe the world anything? No. Just no.
And also, the symbolism is SO heavy-handed. Both the Superman as Christ thing, and the anti-immigrant angle. Looks like the entire script is meant to be a hammer.

Hey, now that Jonathan isn't around to tell Clark to let people die that important role should only naturally fall to the mother.
As much as I feel Geoff Johns doesn't "get" Batman, Zack Snyder doesn't "get" Superman even more. I'll still see the movie, though, because I'm kind of a sucker.

Yeah, that was part of why I didn't like the first one. He let his father die. Who does that?

I had a big "argument" with my LCS owner (really a good guy, I'll say upfront) about this (and Before Watchmen...), and his point was that Superman (and all comics characters) change and evolve and I was stuck on the Christopher Reeve version. To some extent he's right, they DO change, otherwise we would never have had the Silver Age version, or the Bronze Age (mine!), etc. But, that doesn't mean I have to like/accept any particular version. I LIKED the Byrne Superman for a long time, there were changes in there that made sense to me. I can handle change. But that doesn't mean I have to like any particular version.
If Snyder wants to make this "modern" Superman, so be it. Just not for me. Not a Superman I want anything to do with.

I really hope I have enough integrity to not go. I DO want to see this version of Batman. But, this world is nothing more than another dystopia. And that's not a DCU I care about.

Characters evolving is one thing. It's when they become an entirely new species that's the problem.

I don't even mind that. I am someone who is used to change, I get it. I just don't see change as necessarily good (or bad). But if you're going to change something, I need to like it for what it is, not just because it's "new" or "different". Those are marketing words and they don't impress me.
