Re: Come In and Introduce Yourselves!
Hi there. My name's Colin and I've been obsessed with comics since the early 70s. Mostly American stuff, but British comics I've enjoyed include Action, Vulcan (especially the Trigan Empire reprints), Krazy, 2000AD, Starlord, Warrior, the Daredevils and Viz. I'm also quite partial to British small press comics such as Martin Eden's the O Men and Tony McGee's Frontiers.

It's intended as a cross between the science fiction writer Philip K Dick and Steve Ditko, co-creator of Spider-Man, Dr Strange and many others.

Hi
I'm here mainly because I know Tony on other forums - specifically, Doctor Who ones (though I have been known to read the occasional comic and/or graphic novel).

Re: Come In and Introduce Yourselves!
Well, I often join forums, whether I stay depends on what they're like. I joined "Doctor Who Online" the other day, but don't plan to go back since the first response I got was a rather rude put down in response to my unflattering comments about "Journey to the centre of the TARDIS". (As opposed to the helpful explanations I got from you about the details I'd missed )tony ingram wrote:And yet you came here anyway...
(Oh, and did I mention my masochistic streak? )

DWO is a very splintered site, I think. It seems to be in a permanent state of civil war. And the Rose Tyler obsessive faction are just terrifying.

Re: Come In and Introduce Yourselves!
There's one guy on there who honestly believes that the anniversary special is going to be the culmination of a long term (as in about six years) secret plan to return Rose (who is apparently the most important character in Doctor Who ever) to a regular role in the series. It's not a celebration of Doctor Who, it's a celebration of Rose, and she will either return full time travelling with the metacrisis Doctor (who will be revealed to have been the real Doctor all along) or will have a constant recurring role ala River Song. The ommission of all other Doctors from the 50th is because it's all about Rose. And what's more, this has to be absolutely true because for weeeks now we've been getting subtle clues to Rose's return in every episode (so subtle that nobody else has noticed them)!

Probably no crazier than some of the other theories bouncing around. I'm not sure if I should repeat them here - well, in any case the "Obligatory Doctor Who Forum" would be the place...tony ingram wrote:There's one guy on there who honestly believes that the anniversary special is going to be the culmination of a long term (as in about six years) secret plan to return Rose (who is apparently the most important character in Doctor Who ever) to a regular role in the series. Re: Come In and Introduce Yourselves!
Well, apart from the fact that I disagree with him on almost every single point he makes (aside from the obvious fact that Russell T Davies couldn't write science fiction), it all seems perfectly reasonable.Liz R wrote:Probably no crazier than some of the other theories bouncing around. Hey Tony! I'll be visiting periodically but not being British, I will likely shy away from posting on purely British comics and such but I will read and learn!

Hi, Silo! Good to see you! Â Â
Doctor Who returns to our screens in August, apparently. Which I'm excited about, at least.

Well, I just use photobucket, but if you go along the edit toolbar you'll find options to insert or host an image (or video).Silogramsam wrote:does your board work like Tenz's? Re: Come In and Introduce Yourselves!
Hello.
I just found out about this site from one of Tony's' posts on the DCU message boards.
I'm an American with relatives in the Liverpool area.
I main interests are superhero comic books and Doctor Who.
I'm trying to add an avatar but so far I'm unable to do it.
I'm sure it's something simple that I'm overlooking. Â

If you go into "edit profile", you'll find a list of things you can edit along the top. Click on "avatar", and it should give you instructions on what to do.karatattoo wrote:Hello.

It worked!!
I knew it was something simple that I was overlooking.
My animated avatar was too large, but I found a good replacement.
Thanks Tony.

Hi Sam. I remember you over at DCMB.
I have seven tattoos, three of which are of Kara Zor-El (hence the username).
I have a full sleeve on my left arm that is made up of two Michael Turner variant covers:
Supergirl #1 and Batman/Superman #13.
The third is the Adam Hughes variant cover from Supergirl and the Legion of Super-Heroes (I can't remember the issue number). This one is a left chest panel.

I'd have to find the pics, but I think MajoyHoy saw them on the DCMB.

Re: Come In and Introduce Yourselves!
Borag Thungg, everyone! I've been an avid comics reader and collector since the 1980s. I have great affection for all forms of publishers although mainly a preference for British publications. Had to narrow it down (if that's possible) for collective space reasons and also for a social life too, lol. I used to collect the Crikey! fanzine a few years ago and was just doing a bit of sorting out and came across the dozen issues I have and now due for a re-read, which then brought me here.
Also a TV fan of Doctor Who, Blake's 7, Gerry Anderson, stuff like that.
I have quite an eclectic British collection ranging from Beanos to Dandys, Eagles (original and relaunch), TVc21 to TV Action/Countdown, Buster to Jackpot, 2000AD to Battle. I love them all, be they funnies, adventure, war, girl, sci-fi or horror.
I'd probably be here for a good half-hour listing my likes, so I'll just let them trickle out where relevant as I post.

Re: Come In and Introduce Yourselves!
Hello all. I'm a grumpy, old comics fan. I'm grumpy, old and like old comics. Apart from a big break from about age 14 when my mother decided comics were only for wee kids, till about age 22, I've been and am a huge devourer of comics - but mainly older comics as there's not a lot about these days that floats my boat.
For quite a few years I ran a comic shop with 2 other blokes, organised and took part in marts and cons, gave talks and interviews on, and wrote about, comics.
I collect pocket libraries, Phantom comics, Swan titles, Diabolik, Kriminal, and other Italian thriller titles, and digital comics. The more obscure the better. For decades, I couldn't see past superheroes, particularly DC characters, and forgot just how good British comics could be, but I went back to them, prompted by doing research into costumed heroes and reading Billy The Cat and Leopard from Lime Street. That quickly got me back into reading The Broons, Jonah, Bash St Kids, Stoogie and other hilarious strips.
Favourite artists include, Dudley D Watkins, Alex Toth, Bill Lacey, Alex Raymond, Giancarlo Alessandrini, John Worsley (from PC49).
I'm also an admin on CB+

Josiedad?
Hi Tony and Crikey! readers, just want to introduce myself and say "Hello!" to everyone. My name is John Derek Pitt ( Josie is our new, lovely pup! ) and I have been a comics nut since the fifties, of both UK and US comics.
I shall attempt to document my love affair with comics from the very start to the present day on future posts on this forum. Some of you may have seen me knocking around the comics blogs or on FB geek groups, and I hope to plug some of them on here too! :-)
