So, how much of this do we believe? (possible spoilers)
Lots of rumours circulating about the new series, and SylvesterMcCoy.com have pieced together a speculative episode guide based on rumours and...well, more rumours, really, as well as the odd confirmed snippet. Rumours include: the return of the Meddling Monk, played by Terrance Hardiman (the Monk, the first renegade Time Lord we ever met several years before the Master's debut, was last seen in 1965 story The Dalek Masterplan, then played by Peter Butterworth), a shape changing dog, the Doctor attempting to avert the death of Professor River Song, and a war between the new Cybermen and their predecessors from the classic series. the full article is here http://www.sylvestermccoy.com/newdoctorwho/ but how much of it do we believe? The Monk sounds a little unlikely, to me-but the Cybermen rumour would seem to fit with Steven Moffat's well documented desire to see the original silver giants return...

OS has been speculating things such as Zygons are involved and the doctors new Tardis isn't real and he finds bits of his old Tardis throughout the series.
Its a pity that a lot of fan speculation is more interesting and creative that one actually gets in the end.

Trouble is, you get sucked into the speculation and then the actual shows turn out to be a huge disappointment.Hourglass wrote:OS has been speculating things such as Zygons are involved and the doctors new Tardis isn't real and he finds bits of his old Tardis throughout the series.

Out of interest, do you get this much speculation in comic circles?

I really, really hope the Meddling Monk rumour is true.
But it sounds so good that it probably won't be true.

I'd love to see the Monk again, but I do tyhink it's highly unlikely (though then again, we got the Macra back...). The Zygon rumour sounds more plausible as I gather there's at least one shape changer in the new series. Hey, maybe it's Amy?

I think she looks perfect just the way she is!
We saw the 'new' Macra for all of three blurry seconds - they needn't have bothered.
Bring back Mavic Chen!

Somehow, I think the Guardian of the Solar System would be as unnaceptable today as Li Hsen Chang from Talons of Weng Chiang. Though Kevin Stoney did pull off 'oriental' very well...Lucy McGough wrote:I think she looks perfect just the way she is!

Is there some obscure piece of government legislation stating that only Caucasians can be interplanetary dictators?tony ingram wrote:Somehow, I think the Guardian of the Solar System would be as unnaceptable today as Li Hsen Chang from Talons of Weng Chiang.

I think it's more that these days, only Orientals should play Orientals. Of course, back then the BBC's choices were a bit limited in that respect: it was either a white guy with eye makeup or Burt Kwouk, basically...

We have plenty of orientals of our own nowadays, because of multiculturalism. This means that it is our positive DUTY to bring back Mavic Chen!
(Or, failing him, the Sensorites.)

Ah, but if you bring back the Sensorites as blokes in masks and weird shoes then in roughly 600 years time you risk the show being regarded as beyond the pale by the circular footed inhabitants of the Arcturus colonies...Lucy McGough wrote:We have plenty of orientals of our own nowadays, because of multiculturalism. That's alright, given the size of Arcturus they'd all be blind.

The Monk deserves to come back. They used him for two stories, he was a really good character, and then they completely forgot about him. 'Tain't fair.
