Just read it, and it's not bad at all. I really didn't like Bendis's Marvel work much, but he seems to have a feel for these characters (even if I think wiping out Kandor was a mistake). The decision to send Lois and Jon off into space is a little odd, but I suspect Bendis just wanted them out of the way for a bit while he established his new direction for Clark.

That's an odd way to establish a new direction for a character: to remove his wife and son from the story.
(Isn't his family an important part of who he is?)

Well, I doubt it'll be for long, since issue #1 begins with him going off to look for them.

Of course! That's why he's thinking about and missing them so much. They don't have to be physically present to be a big part of his life, and I'm sure Jor-El will bring them back in one piece.

This is the same Jor-El who basically tried to wipe out a good chunk of life on Earth to convince his son that "we're not worthy" . . .
Who knows when another of his screws could pop loose?

No way will DC editorial kill off Lois Lane and her kid.
