Doctor Who Magazine is Forty Years old!

Forty years ago today, Marvel UK published the first issue of what was then Doctor Who Weekly, a bold experiment at the time (though the success of Star Wars Weekly probably had something to do with it). Now, 543 issues later, it's still going strong even though Marvel UK bit the dust 20 years ago (DWM is now produced by Panini). Admittedly, it's more magazine than comic now, but the Doctor's strip adventures have continued throughout. Here's hoping for another forty years!

Shouldn't the Doctor have travelled back in time and convinced Marvel UK to do this sooner than they did?

Even the Doctor can't fight the system. Until 1979, Polystyle (publishers of TV Comic) had the rights to Doctor Who comics.
