Happy 80th Anniversary Golden Age Black Widow (Claire Voyant)

First Golden Age appearance: Mystic Comics #4 (July or August 1940):

While the outside cover has the "August" date printed on it, the inside front cover lists this as "July 1940".


As for the Black Widow herself, . . .





She would go on to have appearances in Mystic Comics #5 and #7, as well as in USA Comics #5 and All Select Comics #1.  Eventually, she'd go on to be included in the series The Twelve.

Nice cover and fantastic art, and the character seems far more interesting than the current one, whose popularity is only powered by those Avengers movies...

With good writing, I really enjoy the Natasha Romanova version. The runs written by Marjorie Liu (2010), Nathan Edmondson (2014-2015), and Mark Waid with Chris Samnee (2016-2017) were quite enjoyable.

But killing her off in Secret Empire (2017) and the convoluted way they then brought her back (in a cloned body but her original memories?) really messed things up.
