The Trouble With Girls

I was looking through some boxes of old stuff this morning and came across a series I haven't thought about in years-and I've just emerged from rereading several issues, with a huge grin on my face. Does anyone else remember The Trouble With Girls? For the uninitiated, it was a wonderfully funny series by Will Jacobs and Gerard Jones from the eighties and early nineties concerning the misadventures of Lester Girls, a nice but not very bright guy who just wants to be normal and live in suburbia married to his high school sweetheart, but who is unfortunately cast by fate in the role of an action hero, and who is continually manipulated by both the aforementioned high school sweetheart (now a CIA agent) and by his own Native American "sidekick", the unscrupulous Apache Dick, as well as by his arch foe the Lizard Lady, who seems to send as much time trying to seduce him as she does trying to kill him. Brilliant stuff!

I recommend it, it's very funny (in my opinion).

Actually, yes. Or at least, I like it. I'll try to post some later.

I have them in some old boxes too, but I remember these adventures from a different publisher Tony! In fact it was quite common at times for a popular series to change publisher (I love this argument!) , maybe the most famous one was Jim Starlin's Dreadstar from Epic/Marvel to First Comics!

I think Girls started at Malibu Comics, moved to Comico, then somewhere else, and ended up at Epic.

I saw it in the stands I never picked it up; what were the best issues?

Deeply depressing.

I'm not sure what would happen these days if I tried to re-read Malibu's Prime again (since both he and Len Strazewski were involvedin writing that).



Would I wind up reading way too much into the adventures of a kid who can transform himself in a big, strong man?

That's the trouble with stuff like this happening, it taints everything.
