And the New Doctor is...
Jodie Whittaker. A person of the female persuasion. Blimey!

I feel as if this is a very touchy subject. I've seen a lot of people commenting on the Youtube video about it, VERY negatively. I have a friend who's been a DW fan since he was a kid, and he went ballistic about this and said he will never watch anything BBC does again. And I know I've said some dumb things about this before on here.
So, can I just complain that there really are no surprises anymore? I know why BBC did this, to capitalize on the interest. But, as a fan of the stories, I just feel intense frustration that I know now. And not ONLY when I watched the Christmas special. I mean, I knew there was no way I was going to be able to make it to December without someone saying something (even before knowing about the problem with it being "A person of the female persuasion", which definitely makes it much more likely I'm going to see it somewhere) but I kind of wish I could have.

In 54 years, they have ever once been able to make it a surprise, I doubt they ever will in the internet age.

That was pretty amazing. But I was talking specifically about the identity of a new Doctor. Always announced well in advance.Lucy McGough wrote:Hey, I was surprised by 'World Enough and Time'.

I can hardly wait to see Jodie Whittaker's Doctor.
It's a long time until Christmas , then an even longer wait until September, 2018!!!

Re: And the New Doctor is...
Thank you, kind sir...
...and you're always welcome back at Tenz's DC message boards.
I'm looking forward to Jodie Whittaker's interpretation of the Doctor, and I'm curious about what her outfit will be like.
Also, I wish Michelle Gomez had chosen to remain a bit longer. I would have loved to see her opposing the new Doctor.
As for David Bradley standing in for William Hartnell, I'm fine with that. Having seen his performance as Hartnell in An Adventure in Space and Time, I think the character of the first Doctor is in good hands.

I'm just generally uncomfortable with the idea of recasting past incarnations. It seems to me that it takes something way from the original actor. Yes, I know it makes no sense...

I read today that Polly will be portrayed by Lily Travers in the Christmas Special Twice Upon A Time.

I agree. Seems to have been a "final" death, but that's happened before. One can hope.

Good. Because I think there's a lot of story there.
