Twice Upon a Time
I was really expecting to hate that. I really, really didn't want them to have someone else (again) as the first Doctor. But...they showed Hartnell! It was OK! And it was a really nice send-off for Capaldi! And then...ummm..well...

Re: Twice Upon a Time
The 'goodbye, Doctor' bit was too self-indulgent, but those bits always are these days. The rest was very good.

I agree. Overall the episode was a lot of fun, and I'm definitely going to miss him. I know it's the way of the show, but I seem to just get into a Doctor and then they're gone.

It's because we no longer get 26 episodes a year...

Re: Twice Upon a Time
I thought this was a very enjoyable episode, but I would like to have seen a bit more of the recast Polly and Ben. I would have liked to see them kneeling over the Doctor as the scene fades back to the original 1966 recording.
One thing I want to have stopped is the regeneration being so destructive it's nearly akin to a nuclear detonation. This isn't necessary just so the TARDIS interior can be changed. It has already been established that the TARDIS has thirty different control room designs on file, so all that would be needed is the selection of a new "desktop." Also, no more soliloquies by the Doctor. They're becoming a bit cliché.
David Bradley was excellent as the 1st Doctor. Bill Hartnell would have been proud.
As for Jodie Whittaker, I'm really looking forward to seeing her adventures. One problem I have, and this is clearly my problem, is that I'm terrible with unfamiliar accents. It took about half of Peter Capaldi's first year before I could watch an episode without have to replay the Doctor's dialog several times in order to understand what he was saying.
I was convinced that the new Doctor's first words were "Oh, Berlin," or "Aw, Berlin."
I had to look up what she actually said.
Oh well, I'll figure it all out...
...eventually.

I really am not so sure Hartnell woud have been proud. He was notoriously possessive of the role.

That may be, but the poor man have been dead for nearly 43 years.
Also, Hartnell never owned the rights to the character of the Doctor. The BBC does.

Quite true. I've served on courtroom juries several times, and have heard the presiding Judge say as much while giving instructions to the jury.
BTW, dd any one else notice when everyone enters the 1st Doctor's TARDIS, that as he throws the lever to take off, the name Bernard Wilkie appears on the console?
Bernard Wilkie was the visual effects designer on several Doctor Who stories during the Second and Third Doctor's eras.

Another bit of trivia:
The jacket Jon Pertwee wore as the 3rd Doctor in Planet of the Daleks can be seen (dimly) on a coat rack at the top of the steps as the 12th Doctor begins his Farewell Speech.
