The original superheroes of the DC Universe's Golden Age return in a triumphant new series that celebrates the past while forging a new future.
by JEREMY BLUM - PUBLISHED 1 HOUR AGO
The Justice Society of America headlines its first monthly ongoing series in years this November, courtesy of writer Geoff Johns and artist Mikel Janín.
Justice Society of America #1 features a bevy of longstanding JSA heroes -- including the original Flash, Green Lantern and Hawkman -- as they team up to defeat an unusual enemy who has disrupted temporal history. The Time Masters, DC's defenders of the time stream led by Rip Hunter, are also teased to make an appearance. A preview of the cover of Justice Society of America #1 also shows Huntress -- presumably the Helena Wayne version originally from Earth-Two -- standing in front of her forebears.
"There will be familiar faces re-joining the team, like Jay Garrick and Alan Scott, as well as long-lost members returning, like Beth Chapel and Yolanda Montez, and a new Golden Age legacy hero first hinted at in the end of Flashpoint Beyond," Johns said. "Mikel Janín is doing the work of his career on this."
At the end of the article we get:
Justice Society of America #1 is written by Johns, illustrated by Janín, who also provides cover art, and features variant covers by Yanick Paquette, Joe Quinones, Jerry Ordway and Steve Lieber. The issue goes on sale Nov. 22 from DC Comics.
And for some of the covers,

Re: Justice Society of America 2022 series
And at the beginning of November,
But also from that article, a little about Stargirl:
You can read the rest here: https://www.comicsbeat.com/dc-rings-in-geoffvember-with-johns-written-jsa-relaunch-stargirl-miniseries/?ampDC rings in Geoffvember with Johns-written JUSTICE SOCIETY relaunch, STARGIRL miniseries
(They didn't officially call it Geoffvember, but with three books coming out it seems appropriate.)
By Joe Grunenwald- 08/18/2022 3:00 pm
Move over, Scottober: DC’s bringing out Geoffvember this fall. The publisher has announced three new Geoff Johns-written titles set to debut in November, including a relaunch of the Justice Society of America and a Stargirl miniseries.
It all kicks off with The New Golden Age, a one-shot set to arrive on November 8th. Written by Johns, the issue features art by Steve Lieber, Jerry Ordway, and Diego Olortegui, with covers by Mikel Janín, Gary Frank, Todd Nauck, Mike Allred, David Talaski, and Dan Hipp. Here’s how DC describes the one-shot, which spins out of the conclusion of the currently-running Flashpoint Beyond series:
DC’s future…and its past…will never be the same again. But how are Mime and Marionette connected to this? Why are Rip Hunter and the Time Masters the most unlikable heroes in the DC Universe? And who or what is…Nostalgia? Don’t miss the start of the strangest mystery to have ever plagued the DC Universe...
But also from that article, a little about Stargirl:
. . . Also spinning out of The New Golden Age will be Stargirl: The Lost Children, which also serves as a follow-up to the Stargirl Spring Break Special that came out over a year ago and you’re forgiven if you’ve forgotten about. Written by Johns and illustrated by Todd Nauck, the six-issue miniseries finds Stargirl and a few other young heroes up against a new villain with an interesting name:
When Stargirl of the Justice Society and Green Arrow’s ally Red Arrow discover a tragic teenage hero from the past has gone missing, they set out to find him…only to discover he’s not the first teenage hero of the Golden Age to have vanished without a trace. But where have they gone? Who are they? And what does the Childminder want with them?

The Childminder isn't an interesting name for a villain.

Re: Justice Society of America 2022 series
For anybody who's been (trying to) follow this series, issue #5 came out at the start of this month.
What we've had so far is:
November 2022
* THE NEW GOLDEN AGE #1 (one-shot) = 11/8/2022
* JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA #1 = 11/29/2022 (originally solicited for 11/22/2022)
January 2023
* Justice Society of America #2 = 01/24/2023 (orig. 12/27/2022)
March 2023
* Justice Society of America #3 = ship date 03/14/2023 (orig. 01/24/2023)
May 2023
* Justice Society of America #4 = 05/23/2023 (orig. 02/28/2023)
August 2023
* Justice Society of America #5 = 08/01/2023 (orig. 03/28/2023) <NOTE: later resolicited for 04/25/2023>
Issue #6 (originally solicited for 05/23/2023) is, at the moment, scheduled to ship September 5th (of 2023), but while Mikel Janin had been listed for the interior art per the original solicitation, it looks like that won't be happening now according to the cover image recently released?
NOTE: Dates I've listed are in the month/day/year format, but that's how we do it here in the U.S.

Re: Justice Society of America 2022 series
Just read issue #6 (a bit late). Some interesting developments, particularly with Huntress. Also, this month sees Michael, the Red Bee's pet bee, appear in two separate issuyes, JSA #6 and Peacemaker Tries Hard #5. I think that may be a record for the little guy (though sadly, the Peacemaker appearance kills him off).

The "interesting development" is that Geoff Johns appears to continue his quest to have that character take over the Justice Society of America, even though she's only been a member for about ten minutes?tony ingram wrote:Just read issue #6 (a bit late). Re: Justice Society of America 2022 series
There's a whole lotta mess that's unaddressed regarding Alan, Molly, and "Harlequin's Son". When was Harlequin's Son born and how old is he? (He was also a part of that future JSA Huntress is trying to re-assemble in the present day.) Plus, since Alan has known he was gay (and evidently actively gay) since back before the JSA first formed, what's the story with his two past marriages (Golden Age Rose/Thorn and later to Molly)? Is Molly still alive these days? And have we previously already met whoever the father of Harlequin's Son will turn out to be?tony ingram wrote:Well, the Harlequin's son appears in this issue, but there's still no explanation for where Molly Mayne herself is...

Re: Justice Society of America 2022 series
Read issue #7, which is "Young Justice Society Chapter Two" for some reason. The only "Lost Children" addition we saw this issue was that annoying, whiney Salem. It seems other members are buying in to Huntress' plan to recruit the criminals in the present who in her future would become members of the JSA. Dr. Midnight and Wildcat get a few pages to continue explaining their Eclipso-related problems (separate from the rest of the JSA, of course), and we end with a guest-appearance of three members of the Legion of Substitute heroes from the future (but in our present).
Why they bother to pretend this is really a JSA comic book is still beyond me.

And while the Wesley Dodds: The Sandman series was able to complete its six-issue run in a relatively timely manner, that's not the case for the other two six-issue JSA-related books that were first released back in October.
For Jay Garrick: The Flash, we've had:

Issue #2 = November 21, 2023
Issue #3 = December 19, 2023
Issue #4 = January 16, 2024
Issue #5 = February 27, 2024
Issue #6 = currently scheduled for April 16, 2024
And for Alan Scott: The Green Lantern (which I'm not reading), we've had:
Issue #1 = October 24, 2023
Issue #2 = November 28, 2023
Issue #3 = December 26, 2023
Issue #4 = January 30, 2024
Issue #5 = March 26, 2024
Issue #6 = currently scheduled for May 14, 2024
