Ah, but you forget that this is Torchwood in its post-'Children of Earth' regeneration, i.e. it is no longer crap.codywillis1 wrote:You can have it, Tony, we don't bleedin' want it!

Beg your pardon, Tony - I didn't know TV companies abroad saw the series before we were able...
Re: The Almost People
This is the first time, and it seems to be purtely because the Americans have put money into it and insist on broadcasting to their own audience first and then to the foreign networks they can sell it to before we get it. That really irritates me, as a licence fee payer.GBF wrote:Beg your pardon, Tony - I didn't know TV companies abroad saw the series before we were able...

You know, this two-parter and Planet of the Ood make me so angry I have a hard time watching them. I know it's fiction, and it's meant to be evocative, but I just can't get past how casual the people are towards others. They actually created slave races. I just can't get around that.
Good episodes, though. Really.

Re: The Almost People
I tend to agree regarding the Ood, but not The Also People. The humans had no reason to suspect that the Flesh was capable of independent thought until the accident at the refinery, and indeed, only that handful of Gangers seemed to be really sentient, and only because of the electrical storm. As far as the humans were concerned, the Gangers were simply walking avatars, a tool, and for the most part I think that's all they were. That's why the Doctor had no compunction about liquifying the Amy Ganger; it was just something the real Amy's mind was walking around inside, not a sentient being in its own right.

Yes, but given that the other Gangers in the show were autonomous, they should've made it more clear that Amy's wasn't. It made the Doctor look like a murderer.

I never had a problem with it, but then I thought it was made clear...

My thoughts also. And, once they knew the Gangers were sentient, even as copies, that should have been enough reason to give them autonomy.

Yes, but there's no indication anywhere in the story that any other Gangers are sentient. I still think this lot only became sentient because of the storm.

Well, it worked for Frankenstein's monster.
