How will we survive without him?

I should be SO happy right now, but then there's that bit about Grant Morrison. Talk about bittersweet. . . .

Morrison is a very good writer, but to be honest, I've never thought straight superhero stories were a medium he was suited to.

I like him on Batman. All-Star Superman too, of course.

I actually never read All-Star Superman. Perhaps I should have. For the most part, the Morrison stuff I've liked has been his more experimental stuff-like Doom Patrol, Animal Man and Zenith, none of which are exactly straight superheroics even though they pretend to be. I never warmed to his much acclaimed JLA run, somehow. And it's been years since I really followed Batman.

Well, it's never too late for All-Star Supes. As a fellow fan of the Silver Age, I highly recommend it for you.
His Doom Patrol was great, yeah. I never read the other things you mentioned, though. Maybe I was just too scared after the Scissormen, I don't know. CRAP, thanks for making me think about THEM again; I won't be sleeping well tonight.
I know what you mean about the JLA. I re-read it recently and couldn't believe how un-amazing it was. It was fine, sure, but nowhere near the unimpeachable classic my nostalgia had led me to believe. I can never know what you mean about Batman, though. I can't even imagine life without him, as apparently he's been in it since before I can remember (my parents love to tell the story of how I refused to be potty-trained until they bribed me with a toy from the Michael Keaton movie). How do you live? What guides and uplifts you if not the Caped Crusader, yea, even the Dark Knight? WHAT MEANING HAS YOUR LIFE?!?!
Anyway, Rob Liefeld, huh? Maybe we should list in memoriam our favorite works of his. I'll start:

Yes, you should have. Rectify this NOW. Honestly, and I say this with no shame. Reading the first issue of All Star Superman I felt exactly the same way I did when I first saw the Christopher Reeves Superman movie as a kid. The entire series is just brilliant.

Re: Rob Liefeld Announces Decision to Quit Superhero Comics
And, after an announcement, then a rethink, and a brief total U-turn, Rob Liefeld has now quit DC again for about the third time in a year. Except that now, he's basically burned his bridges, admitting that he just can't stand the frustration of being constantly micromanaged by editors who seem to have no clue what they're doing. This is starting to look like a trend...

I can't BELIEVE you just made me feel like I'm on Rob Liefeld's side on something.

I'm sorry. I promise it will never happen again. But there were extenuating circumstances.Sam_Vimes wrote:I can't BELIEVE you just made me feel like I'm on Rob Liefeld's side on something.
