Twenty years after its origiginal 1995 video release, it's been announced that the unlicensed Doctor Who spin-off Downtime, which starred Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier and also introduced his daughter Kate Lethbridge-Stewart to the world, is to be released on DVD at last. Also starring Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith and Deborah Watling as Victoria Waterfield, It's available on Amazon for preorder with a release date of November 16th.

For a very low budget unlicensed production, it's also very well done. Stick a score by Keff McCulloch on it and it could be a televised episode from 1989, if you accept that the Doctor is busy elsewhere that week.

Apparently, the granddaughter of the Yeti's creator, Mervyn Haisman, is mounting some kind of legal challenge to the release, claiming it breaches her copyright. Reeltime say she has no case.

She just wants some free money. Sad, when other people who actually have a REASON TO SUE don't sue.
