Favourite DC Comics Character or Team
Re: Favourite DC Comics Character (and Why)
And there was the original look for Black Canary, back in the world of DC by Carmine Infantino:

She's wearing fishnets! Those blue legs with the crosshatching are how her fishnets were depicted for decades.Lucy McGough wrote:What, no fishnets?

It just makes her look like she's got blue legs. Maybe she's caught a chill.
Notice how in the third picture Johnny Thunder's just basically staring at her bum?

I actually didn't mind that look. But then, I have a bit of a soft spot for the eighties. I also liked Guy Gardner's moon boots. And I never could resist a woman in leg warmers...MajorHoy wrote:At least it wasn't this look:Lucy McGough wrote:What, no fishnets?

I know I didn't. To me, they were "ugh" boots. Val's original costume was a classic, I don't understand why Marvel are obsessed with changing their characters looks every five minutes these days.

To sell action figures?
Those boots don't look very practical for a warrior, although they'd be very trendy on a student.

I think the only Valkyrie figure they've ever released had the classic costume.Lucy McGough wrote:To sell action figures?

But they could've released a figure with boots made from real fur.

So even with the U.K., people seem to like Batman?
(He is the character with the most votes so far, though all the other votes added together would beat him up and leave him crying for his Mommy . . . who happens to be dead, but, whatever.)

Scotland: the country that brought you the telephone, penicillin and the Scotch egg.

Re: Favourite DC Comics Character (and Why)
Actually, the Scotch egg was apparently invented by London department store Fortnum & Mason in 1738. And who invented the first telephone is a matter of some debate, with an Italian named Antonio Meucci being a strong contender.Lucy McGough wrote:Scotland: the country that brought you the telephone, penicillin and the Scotch egg.

So the invention of the Scotch egg wasn't important? It was a major culinary innovation!

Must be important only in certain areas, though according to Wikipedia, they can even be served on a stick!Lucy McGough wrote:So the invention of the Scotch egg wasn't important? It was a major culinary innovation!
By the way, did the Scotch invent Scotch tape?

Shouldn't that be a Scots Egg and Scots Tape?
BTW Major, the Scots aren't Scotch. As an uncle of mine used to say, "Scotch is a drink."

This is puzzling. Silo's post showed up as though the quote function wasn't working for him, until I refreshed it. Then, it looked fine. Silo, what have you done to piss off the forum software?

it's clearly not used to the correct spelling of words like "Spelt" and "color".
Let's try this:

Curious. You made a post, but the image did not show up. I clicked "edit post", changed nothing, then clicked "save", and lo and behold, it's there. This has me baffled.
