Happy 80th Anniversary to the Golden Age Uncle Sam (comic book version)
Since here in the United States it's the Fourth of July weekend, . . .
First appearance of his feature: National Comics #1, cover-dated July 1940 (and according to the GCD, on-sale date of April 14th, 1940).
Uncle Sam also earned his own quarterly-published title in the following year, which lasted for eight issues.
The last issue of National Comics where Uncle Sam was featured on the cover was issue #41, cover-dated April 1944:
and Uncle Sam's final Golden Age appearance in a feature was in issue #45.
But along with several other characters first published by Quality Comics back in the Golden Age, Uncle Sam was reintroduced as part of the DC Comics universe (multiverse) on a place originally called "Earth-X" as part of a group known as . . . The Freedom Fighters!
