post-CoIE Huntress (Helena Bertinelli)
After the Helena Wayne version died in the last issue of Crisis on Infinite Earths (#12, cover-dated March 1986), it would be three years later before DC introduced a new person to take up the name of Huntress.

Written by Joey Cavalieri (who had taken over the writing duties on Helena Wayne's feature in Wonder Woman with issue #296 in 1982) and penciled by Joe Staton (who had previously been penciling the Helena Wayne feature), the first issue went on sale February 16, 1989 (according to the GCD). And while, like Batman (Bruce Wayne), Helena Bertinelli lost her family due to their being shot before her eyes, much of her backstory was quite different from Bruce's.
And from Who's Who in the DC Universe #6 (January 1991),

Never liked Bertinelli, much. I wish they'd just found some way of keeping Helena Wayne around...

Well, considering how screwed-up Power Girl became for a while once they kept her but removed her Kryptonian connections, who knows how badly a post-CoIE "Helena Wayne" would have fared?tony ingram wrote:Never liked Bertinelli, much.
