Golden Age The Invisible Hood (Kent Thurston)
First appearance: Smash Comics #1 (August 1939)
His first episode was quite short:
Wasn't that great how he used his power of invisibility to . . .
Oh, wait. He didn't turn invisible or anything. He was just a guy wearing a mask and a hooded robe. He even lamented about the fact in his next episode
from Smash Comics #2 (September 1939
But by the end of that story, he has the ability to really turn invisible!
Invisible Hood's feature was never called "Invisible Hood". Initially the feature was named "Hooded Justice", and starting with issue #2 it was "Invisible Justice".
And while he never was the main cover feature of Smash Comics, he did start having his headshot appear on the side of the cover (starting with issue #4):
His last Golden Age appearance seems to have been in Smash Comics (March 1942). After that, Roy Thomas brought him back in All-Star Squadron #31 (March 1984)
But that didn't last too long.
After Crisis on Infinite Earths, however, the possibility that Invisible Hood wasn't killed off in an attack was raised. He was even seen (so to speak) in the group picture of the All-Star Squadron from History of the DC Universe.
