Love the way comics from that era depict Nazis as bumbling cowards. I'm sure the real Nazis were neither bumbling nor cowardly. They were much more dangerous.

Yes, but that would hardly have been good for morale.

That's a fair point. I guess people reading the comics in 2014 can never wholly immerse themselves in the viewpoint, attitudes, etc of a person encountering them hot off the presses when they were first published. That's a problem we'll always have, especially since the essence of a comic is to be modern — to comment on the now.

That's why I get irritated when people start bemoaning what they see as casual racism or sexism in comics from almost a century ago . Attitudes were so different that there is no useful comparison to be made.

And who knows what the people of 2114 will be bemoaning in today's comics?

In addition to stories set during WWII, I would also like to have stories set in the 20th century during major historic events or crises, such as the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Kennedy Assassination, the Berlin Wall's construction, the troubles in Northern Ireland, or the Great Depression, to name just a few.

A superhero comic set during the Troubles would be RAD.
