Doctor Who comic book from Titan
Happened to pick up the first issues of Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor and Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor from Titan Comics today because I happened to see them at a Barnes & Noble bookstore and was curious. Did anybody else buy these?
Also saw on the Titan website there's going to be a series with the Twelfth Doctor published in the beginning of October.

I did. Then gave them to my niece unread, I didn't have time to read them.

I think it was more to say "This ain't your Daddy's Doctor Who".Lucy McGough wrote:What was wrong with the scarf?

Which is somewhat funny, because I've seen a lot of old Whovians who like it because it seems more like what they knew, as far as we've seen.

But how many "old Whovians" are still going to be buying Doctor Who comic books in the future?
It's like DC and Marvel: changes they make may piss-off older, long-time fans, but they aren't the future of the comic books. You may have to sacrifice some current consumers in the hope of finding and keeping newer and future consumers. (Which may suck for some of us old farts, but . . . )
Besides, who says Titan won't give other, older Doctors their own books in the future? (Or have they only licensed some but not all of the Doctors?)

Which is sort-of what I meant. This Doctor (cool as he seems to me, and my 17-year-old niece) is geared towards fans like Moffat himself, I think, and that isn't what a number of fans want. Capaldi seems to be a favorite (as much as he can be with almost no screen-time yet) because of the actor, NOT the Doctor. Might change, but a lot of younger fans want something different, and I wonder how many of them will stick around if they never get what they want.

I love the scarf. And I'm nothing if not a new fan. I don't require a scarf, however, as it is the Doctor's health at stake, not mine, and if he chooses to recklessly expose his bare neck to the elements then that's his choice.
Oh, and I didn't buy those comics, no. Still too busy reading the Dave Gibbons ones.

Did those originally come out before you were born?Sam_Vimes wrote:I love the scarf. And I'm nothing if not a new fan. I don't require a scarf, however, as it is the Doctor's health at stake, not mine, and if he chooses to recklessly expose his bare neck to the elements then that's his choice.

I just checked and yes, apparently so. About 7 years before.

I think you'll find that pretty much everything that was worth reading/watching/listening to came out before you were born...Sam_Vimes wrote:I just checked and yes, apparently so. About 7 years before.
