Golden Age Manhunter (Paul Kirk)
Okay, this may get a bit confusing, but hopefully it will all make sense in the end.
In Adventure Comics #58 (January 1941) a feature called "Paul Kirk, Manhunter" began.
It lasted through issue #72 (March 1942).
But he's not the "Paul Kirk" this thread is about.
Then, in Adventure Comics #73 (cover-dated April 1942 with an on-sale date of February 24, 1942 per the GCD), a new feature from Jack Kirby and Joe Simon began: Manhunter.
But his secret identity wasn't "Paul Kirk".
Instead, he was "Rick Nelson".
One issue later (Adventure Comics #74, cover-dated May 1942) the character was now called "Paul Kirk".
And when DC later reprinted the Manhunter story from Adventure Comics #73 years later in The New Gods #4 (August-September 1971) they changed the name from "Rick Nelson" to "Paul Kirk".
And that doesn't even cover his 1970s revival in Detective Comics.
Oh, and for anybody who is interested, here's a link to an article at the Kirby Museum website about the Manhunter strip: https://kirbymuseum.org/blogs/simonandkirby/archives/1038
