Happy 80th Anniversary Golden Age Robin (Dick Grayson)
First appearance: Detective Comics #38 (April 1940):
In 1967, a now adult Dick Grayson became a full member of the Justice Society of America, still going by the name "Robin".
And while the Golden Age / Earth-2 Robin continued to go by that name throughout his crime-fighting career,
from Who's Who -- The Definitive Directory of the DC Universe Vol. XIX (September 1986)
his Earth-1 counterpart would eventually change his identity and adopt the name Nightwing.
Who's Who entry from Batman Annual #13 (1989)

Yes, it was.tony ingram wrote:God, that Silver Age costume was awful...
But the Batman TV show was big back then, and adult Robin's costume screamed "Batman!".
(His original Robin costume with the teeny-shorts and pixie shoes wouldn't have worked on a fully grown adult, especially back then.)

All they had to do was give him green tights, long sleeves and boots and he'd have been fine in his original colours. That's basically all that Neal Adams ended up doing anyway!MajorHoy wrote:Yes, it was.tony ingram wrote:God, that Silver Age costume was awful...

But people didn't necessarily think that way (rationally) during the 1960s.tony ingram wrote:All they had to do was give him green tights, long sleeves and boots and he'd have been fine in his original colours.
